Session Plan: Week Two, Lesson Two Learning Area: English Topic/Theme/Question/Focus: Kid Pix: Matching Adjectives with Pictures in Digital Modes Date: Wednesday 25.7.12 Time Period: morning (before recess) Planned For: Class 6.3, Year 2 Age Range: 7-8 Expected Learning Outcomes: Key Ideas and Outcomes from the National Curriculum (ACARA) & SACSA Framework

Context for the Session: Prior Knowledge/Experience/Interests - The students in this class are all highly creative and love to draw pictures and design things on the computer *Cross-reference = It has been observed that the students love designing and describing their characters on Mathletics Relationship to Previous or Future Sessions on this Topic - This is a good reinforcement session to refresh the students knowledge of adjectives and introduce them to basic describing techniques

Session Focus: At the completion of this session, students will be able to connect adjectives to visual examples and be able to use critical thinking skills to determine appropriate describing words and be able to categorise them according to adjectival order.

Preparation/Resources: - KidPix computer program - Computer Room - White Board

Teaching and Learning Strategies:

1. Introduction: (10 mins)


On the white board in the computer room show students what to do by writing a simple procedure as follows: 1. Open KidPix 2. Select a background 3. Write 4 phrases to Describe the Picture (model this) e.g. It is big. - colour - shape - size - opinion 4. Type your words using different colours and fonts. 5. Save your picture as (Name)s Adjective Picture *ask: Where will you save it?

2. Students now have 40 minutes to complete their pictures.


Note: Once finished students may have free choice on Mathletics or Spellodrome.
