Bill OWrights Class gets CEO of Hospital to Speak about Obama Care
By: Kinsey Morrow ! The Bill OWrights campaign class went through the motions to get a guest speaker into their classroom yesterday. The people responsible for getting Mr. Harrington, CEO to our local hospital, here to speak were Dondi Schmidt, Tanner Goetsch, Josh Waite, and Justine Heinitz. Interviewing Justine, one of the people responsible for getting the speaker here, we learned a little bit about what he had to say. He mostly talked about how the Affordable Care Act effects the hospital located here. He didn't mention his personal opinion. He instead just told us how the plan affects the hospital positively and negatively. According to Mr. Harrington, we spend twice the amount of money on healthcare than other rst world countries. However, our life expectancy is still shorter and we still do not have as good as programs. The Obama Care Act was originally supposed to help this problem but as we all know the websites to purchase healthcare are not working properly. This plan would also help the hospital because every year our hospital spends about 2 million dollars on people who are not able to pay for their medical services. The Affordable Care Act would help reduce this amount as well. Even though he said this act would help care for more people, he mentioned the real problem is where we use our money. Instead of buying large machines and things for major surgeries, more money should be used on the front end of things, to catch the sickness before it gets too major to use those machines.
