Origami Barmy Trainer Notes

Instructions Place delegates into two groups and ask them to go to opposite sides of the room and complete the task on the handout you are about to give them. Give one group the handout Origami brief Team A and the other Origami brief Team ! . Do not let them know that the briefs are different. Advise that the winner will be the team that completes the task in the "uickest amount of time and to the best standard #as decided by the trainer$. Debrief %hen the e&ercise is complete' one team should have completed the task very "uickly and to a good standard' where the other team has struggled. (irst' ask the team that did a good )ob what went well and what didn t go so well. *e&t' ask the team that had difficulties the same "uestions. +f it does not come out in general discussion' e&plain that each team had different briefs for the same activity. One was presented clearly and precisely' whereas the other was presented very poorly.

Review
,ow you review this activity will depend on what you want to highlight. +t could be about attention to detail and how this can affect how instructions are followed or it could be about written information and how it can be confused if not presented clearly. An e&ample review could be!ring the delegates together and ask them to look at both the good version of the brief and the poor one. Ask them to flipchart the key points they feel make a badly presented document i.e. too wordy. %hen they have completed this ask them to think of any other poor instructions they have seen and add what it was that made them poor to the list. %hen they have completed this' discuss each point with the group.
