Introduction
Preface
You hereby have FLSmidth Automation Customer Services customer training catalogue. A series of courses is described in order to cover the features and gain knowledge about the products and applications delivered by FLSmidth Automation. Based on many years sale of training, we have found the need of dividing the courses into four levels: Introduction, User, Specialist and Expert, in order to meet different knowledge level requirements. This training catalogue gives you the opportunity to see the high number of technical training courses which we can provide. We hope you will enjoy studying the possibilities and nd courses supporting your training needs. Otherwise we also offer specic courses tailored to meet your specic needs.

Training Objectives
FLSmidth Automation provides you with professional training based on experience in the design, delivery and commissioning of hundreds of automation systems worldwide. The company has qualied specialists ready to pass on their knowledge of modern process automation and quality control systems. The money laid out on staff training courses is well spent, improving the prot obtained from investment in equipment and software from FLSmidth Automation. A well-trained workforce ensures efciency, independence, and reduces the need for specialist trouble-shooting. Regular training provides plant personnel with updated knowledge resulting in major improvements in productivity and performance, all measurable on the bottom line.

FLSmidth Institute
FLSmidth Automation is part of the FLSmidth Institute umbrella organisation covering all training products and seminars from the members of the FLSmidth Group. The vision of FLSmidth Institute is to be the worlds leading supplier of training, seminars and HR services within the industries we serve. Training Facilities
The FLSmidth Automation courses can be obtained in several ways: Courses on your plant site; before, during or after commissioning. Courses held at FLSmidth Automations headquarter facilities in Copenhagen, Denmark. Courses held at FLSmidth Automation branch ofces in USA, India or other FLSmidth ofces. Training courses at a local hotel close to you. Training courses at the location of a sub-supplier. Most courses are available both at our ofces and on site. Most training courses require suitable class room facilities and computer work stations. We prefer to carry out training with maximum two persons per workstation for optimal benet from the hands-on lessons. Relevant software will be installed on each workstation so the student can have hands-on experience applying the skills learned in the course.

Copenhagen Headquarter
The headquarter premises is technology center located in Valby, Copenhagen, Denmark. Here we have specialists in all elds and can provide modern training class rooms with up to 10 work stations, laptop PCs and projectors. We have control systems and PLC equipment in our test area, as well as a fully operational QCX/RoboLab often used during training. European lunch among the personnel is provided mid day. A dedicated prayer room is available if required.

Other FLSmidth Automation ofces

The ofces in U.S.A., India and other subsidaries also offer training in own facilities. Training in these and other ofces is arranged on request.

Skills
When selecting training courses it is important to decide which level of skills to reach in order to meet the training goals. We have divided the courses into the following four groups:

Introduction
Introduction courses is the entrance level to most courses and meant for all training groups as well as an overview for managers. Introduction courses cover only basic functions of the applications and an overview of the FLSmidth Automation systems.
Introduction

User
User courses focus on the level for laboratory personnel or operator functions. This level is in most cases sufcient for operators. After the courses the participants will understand the basics of the systems enabling them to operate the systems on a daily basis. Participants should be familiar with the use of personal computers running MS Windows.
User

Specialist
Specialist courses cover in-depth knowledge and advanced functions for set-up, con-guration and maintenance of different modules of the solutions from FLSmidth Automation. Most products require that a staff group become specialists. This is carried out by taking this level of courses in order to fully benet from the system. Participants should have an engineering background and be familiar with the use of personal computers. Some courses are based on PLC programming experience.
Specialist

Introduction

User

Specialist

Expert

Expert
Expert courses enable the participants to maintain, adjust, expand and reestablish the FLSmidth Automation systems to meet needs, giving the optimal use of the product. Participants should be system administrators or specialists. Expert courses most often require that the participant has gained experience with the product before this advanced training to fully understand and benet from the course. After the courses participants will be able to train colleagues in the use of FLSmidth Automation systems.
Expert

Course Duration
Most courses are divided into several modules covering day each.

Training Recommendations
Training takes time and is needed for full benet of the products. Often several weeks are needed to understand and fully use a system. We recommend that the required time is allocated in order to bring the trainees to a level of understanding good for safe operation and optimal maintenance. This gives the opportunity to understand which powerful tools the products can be for optimal running of a plant. Some trainees should therefore reach specialist level. In most cases we recommend that groups rst of all come for a period of dedicated training at FLSmidth Automation a couple of months before commissioning (often utilizing the actual equipment before shipment to plant). And that we meet again on site to continue training later after installation of the equipment. Based on some experience with the FLSmidth Automation system, we recommend a follow-up course for brush-up and in-depth training courses in order to close the knowledge gap between the user and the many product features for fully exploitation of the products. Eventually when a system is upgraded FLSmidth Automation offers training adapted to the system conversion in order to meet and update the knowledge requirements. Mate-rial is in this case based on the software release notes. In general we strongly recommend training at FLSmidth Automation premises, since it gives the opportunity to concentrate on dedicated training without disturbance from daily plant work.

Course Sequences
The next pages illustrate overviews of the various courses FLSmidth Automation nd relevant to offer to our customers. The courses are shown in 3 sequences in order to show the connection among the courses. The course sequences illustrate the number of courses relevant for specic products and applications. This should help planning relevant training and count the number of days for specic staff groups. FLSmidth Automation will be pleased to assist with analysis of training needs. Based on a dened qualication gap, we can offer and plan training accordingly.

A Training Example
We enclose examples showing training programmes for several staff groups in need of a sequence of courses. The example shows the order of courses in a row, while the days can be held over a longer period with interruptions in between the individual courses to make use of the gained knowledge. The large example shown is for a greeneld plant in order to show many courses relevant for this type of customer with many new products. However the training period is most often shorter and can be from a single day to 6-8 weeks, and it is in most cases 2-3 weeks. If you have other needs than described, FLSmidth Automation will be pleased to develop and implement special training activities according to your wishes. We will prepare a project plan with the optimal solution for your staff.

Customer Seminars
As part of FLSmidth Institute we also offer seminar conferences. Where our training courses cover specic applications and in-dept knowledge of a dedicated subject, the seminars are yearly events with a more broad perspective. These annual international seminars are recognized events in the industry. The events offer managers and specialists from around the world the opportunity to meet colleagues, exchange ideas and expand their knowledge. This way there is a chance to create a valuable network among the participants. All seminars are conducted by experienced FLSmidth personnel and are backed by the vast knowledge of the entire FLSmidth organization. The seminars most often include a plant visit. This offers a great opportunity to see different solutions of another plant and examples of some of the features discussed. As example FLSmidth Automation has held the Control System Seminar ve times with success and the Quality Control Seminar has been held twice the last years and is also planned for 2008. The seminars should always reect the current industrial need why they are not specied here. Therefore see our seminar plans on separate yers or on the internet page.
