Why am I Organizing the Fundraiser?

I am an avid golfer
My name is Akhil Alluri , I am 16 year old Junior at Northville High School. My passion for golf started when I visited Orlando 56years ago and met Sir Nick Faldo at his golf institute. My desire is to become an elite golfer increased every year.

Injured my knee 2 years ago

During 8th grade spring break I injured my knee. I was swinging the driver and felt excruciating pain in my right knee and before I hit the ground I knew my golf season was over. I had dislocated my knee cap and had torn Medial Patella Femoral Ligament (MPFL).

In my world, life did not exist without golf

I could not play or compete in the one sport I loved, and it happened at a time when I was desperate to get to the next level. Over the next 8 months I was in different types of casts, braces and had extensive physical therapy with restrictions to play any sports.

Realized there other kids battling life threatening injuries that need help
I realized that although I was limited in my abilities with the injury, I am still fortunate compared to the many kids battling life threatening illnesses. I am very thankful to play golf again and pursue my goals. I am fortunate to have access to many resources and decided to make a difference by promoting awareness to and generating support to less fortunate.

Donated $5,163 to CMN from First Golf-a-thon in 2012

In Sept 2012, me and my younger brother Abhinav Alluri organized our first fundraiser where we donated $5,163 to CMN. We received donations for over 80 different donors. Every dollar donated directly benefited CMN.

Why Children's Miracle Network?

1. Nationally recognized organization, which has been helping kids for over 30 years and has raised over $4 Billion dollars 2. All proceeds go to children hospitals to treat children 3. Funds remain in Metro Detroit community to help local children - very important to me.
