The research entitled The Lived Experience of Undergraduate Student Nurse Advisees is a team effort conducted through the collaboration and passion of highly skilled individuals. The researchers have been in a situation where their patience and perseverance were tested. Due to the emerging situations, we were guided and molded by people of hope and optimism. The researchers would like to extend their deepest gratitude to those people who have contributed in the completion of this study. If not for their never ending encouragement, guidance, support and faith, the researchers would not have been transformed holistically and would not have driven to do their utmost best in completing the study: to the Adamson University College of Nursing, for giving its students the opportunity to discover and enhance their skills in research;

to Dean Naressia D. Selludo-Ballena, M.A.N., Ed.D of the College of Nursing, and the research coordinator Ms. Vanessa B. Varona, R.N., M.A.N., for allowing them to conduct this study;

to the research lecturer, Ms. Vanessa B. Varona, R.N., M.A.N., for imparting her knowledge to the Nursing students; to the researchers adviser, Ms. Vanessa B. Varona, R.N., M.A.N., for all the consideration, suggestions, support and effort that she unselfishly and patiently extended to the researchers;

This study particularly describes the lived experiences of being undergraduate student nurse advisees. It involves illuminating their goal setting processes, the obstacles they have encountered, how they responded to those obstacles, the techniques they used to bridge gaps and what they have learned throughout the course of the study. The researchers employed Colaizzis method of the Phenomenological Qualitative Design. Purposive sampling technique was used to select the participants according to the criteria needed for the research. An unstructured, in-depth interview was conducted with the selected participants following the prepared topic guide. The saturation rate was achieved with the 8th participant. Based on the interview conducted, five (5) major themes emerged such as the Isle of Ambitions; the Vast Waves of the Sea; the Floaters Response; the Survivors Rope; and the Memoirs of a Survivor. By utilizing the Qualitative Method of research, the researchers were able to conclude that an advisee has unique goal setting strategies. As they became more and more inclined with their study, obstacles emerged along the way prompting them to respond in various ways. Since research is a continuous process, an advisee may evolve as they progress further. They may lose hope, stumble and even risk things that, serendipitously, became their building blocks creating a bridge between gaps. After crossing the other side to reach success, they eventually realized that being an advisee is not only about responsibility and requirement, but a test of faith, discipline, determination and perseverance in the mysterious, tasking and inevitable world of research.
