WHYThe Secret CANNOTFAIL?

The Secret derivesits tremendouspowerfromseveralkeyfacts:

The universeis the sourceof infinite abundance

The universe is the whole of which everything else is only a part. It includes all that exists -- past, present and future. Its creative power is truly infinite. It possesses the capacity to deliver a million times more than you can ever dream to ask for. We receive so much from the universe all the time without ever thinking about it -- the air and food that support our lives, the inspiring ideas, heart-warming companionship, the marvelous inventions, wondrous products, the unlimited potential to expand our knowledge, the endless opportunities for adventure and accomplishment. All of this comes to us from the universe. None of us utilizes more than a minute fraction of what the universe offers to us at every moment. Becomeconsciousof what the universeis and offersto eachof us.

In the early 20th Century, Wallace Wattles wrote about the "Substance" of the Universe. In the book that inspired Rhonda Byrne to create the movie and the book 'The Secret' he explains: "Everything you see on Earth is made from one original substance out of which all things proceed... There is no limit to the supply of formless stuff, or original substance. The Universe is made out of it, but it was not all used in making the Universe. The spaces in, through, and between the forms of the visible Universe are permeated and filled with the original substance, with the formless stuff - with the raw materials of all things. Ten thousand times as much as have been made might still be made, and even then we should have not exhausted the supply of universal raw material." -- The Science of Getting Rich, by Wallace Wattles, 1910

The universeis givingto us all the time

We are not aware of our true relationship with the universe, which is our source and our greater Self. Each of us lives in a small little shell called the 'ego' cut off from the rest of the world, detached from others in a world to our own making, separate and limited in our strength and capacities. We think that what we use is our own, never thinking that it has all come to us as a gift from the universe. We think that our knowledge, capacities and skills are what we have created, forgetting that all that knowledge, capacities and skills were acquired from our families, friends, schooling, work or national culture. Everything we are, everything we already possess has come to us from the universe. Becomeconsciousof whatwe havealreadyreceived and continueto receivefromthe universeat everymoment.

The universerespondswhenwe openourselvesto it

We are surrounded by infinite abundance. That abundance offers itself to us. We are closed off and detached from that source. We rely on ourselves and our limited energy and capacities when the unlimited resources of the universe are available to us. All we have to do is to open the doors of our being and let the knowledge, energy, strength, capacity and abundance flow into it. The universe has and offers to us all that we need -- materially, socially, psychologically and spiritually. We enter into full relationship with the universe by identifying with it in our consciousness, by giving up the sense of isolation and detachment and embracing the whole world in our consciousness. Openyourselfto the universeand inviteit into your life.

Our consciousnessforgesthe relationship

When you call the universe, you become one with it and share its light, joy and prosperity. All we need to do is to forge the relationship in our consciousness. That means think expansively about the infinite potentials that life offers us. Feel expansively the wider world of which we are a part. Exercisethe powerof yourmindand emotionsto embracethe wideropportunitiesand greaterpowers.

DIAGNOSTICTEST
If youknowThe Secret, havetried it and failed, answertheseten questionsto identifywhatyou shoulddo to makethe methodfully effectivein your life.

Haveyouset a clear and unambiguousgoal that you wantto achieve?

This is the first basic step and most people will readily answer 'yes'.

Please examine your mind carefully. Especially pay attention to the word 'unambiguous'. Many of us want many things but sometimes we want things that appear mutually exclusive. A young woman may strongly aspire for a successful career but at the same time have a strong desire to bear children while she is still young. A man may want to earn more money, but dislike his job and be eager for more time away from work with his family.

Step1: Makeup your mindand throwthe full weightof your personalitybehindyourdecision.

Do you really wantit?

This may sound the same as the first question, but it is not.

Many times we know what we should want or should accomplish, but something in us really does not want it or does not really care whether we achieve. The pressure of parents, friends or a spouse may compel us to think and say we want to accomplish something, when we do not. If we really don't passionately aspire for it, don't expect The Secret to accomplish it anyway. Our own mind may tell us that some goal is very desirable, but our emotions may not consent and endorse that goal.

Step2: Passionatelyaspirewith all yourheart and soul for the objectof your aspiration. The signthat you fulfil this conditionis that the thoughtof achievingthe goal releasesan overflowingabundanceof enthusiasticenergy.

Do you understandThe Secret?

We don't have to understand how a computer is designed and made in order to use it. But we do need to have some basic working knowledge in order to use it effectively. The more we understand how a computer functions as it does, the more effectively we can utilize it and avoid errors and pitfalls that may lead to problems. You may not understand exactly what the universe is, how it operates or why it responds to your aspirations -- that is a knowledge acquired by high spiritual experience -- but you can observe, understand and convince yourself that the universe really does act in that manner. All you have to do is to examine instances in your own life when you have accomplished a higher level than you expected and see how circumstances 'conspired' to make that possible. You can also verify that fact from the lives of famous individuals or other people you know well.

it.

You may not understand exactly what is the mechanism by which the universe responds to your thoughts, feelings and intentions. But you can certainly observe that it is a fact in your own life and in the lives of those around you. Just observe what events, people, information and vibrations come to you from life at times when you are overflowingly happy, angry, irritated or sad. The truth of our relationship with the universe is self-evident and can be personally verified by every person who is interested to observe

Step3: ThinkaboutThe Secret, understandit fully and acceptthe knowledgeyou acquireas real for yourownlife.

Do you believein The Secret?

The Secret is not a religion and faith is not a precondition for applying the method. But all human accomplishment depends on faith. It is only when we act with faith and conviction that our full energies will be released to achieve any result. Faith is fundamental to all accomplishment. When we fly on a plane, we have faith that we will land safely at the other end, otherwise we would never get on the plane. When we send a confidential email, we have faith that it will be delivered to the person we intend and not to a total stranger, otherwise we would never send it. Faith is the basis for all accomplishment. Modern science leads us to feel that we are foolish or gullible if we believe in anything. The fact is that we believe in many things and because we believe in them they work for us. Most of us believe in the power of hard work, honesty, friendship, technology, law, justice, freedom, respect, self-reliance, etc. Most of all we believe in ourselves. Without faith in ourselves or something higher than ourselves, we would not have the courage and strength to attempt new things. Faith is the knowledge which cannot be possessed because it sees only the external appearances of things and not their deeper reality. Faith is the knowledge of the soul.

Step4: Havefaith in the methodand applyit with sincerityand conviction.Havefaith in the goal and your capacityto achievethe goal. Havefaith in yourselfand in life. The greateryourfaith, the greateryouraccomplishment.

Do you feel guilty askingfor material things?

Many people who very much want or need material benefits -- money, health, a home, etc. -- feel that it is mercenary or inappropriate to ask for these things from the universe. The asking makes them feel hesitant, ashamed or even guilty. If that is the case for you, you have to first remove that sense of hesitation. Otherwise you cannot expect the universe to respond. It may be helpful to realize that all the material benefits you and everyone else presently enjoy have come from the universe. People may think they are talented, hard working and deserving -- most people do. But without the cooperation of the world around us, none of us could accomplish anything. The road we drive on, the cars we drive, the phones we use, the knowledge we draw upon, the people we know and everything else come to us from the universe and we accept and enjoy them.

The universe is there to fulfil its own grand aims. But your own personal fulfilment is part of that aim. The universe is the mother that takes joy in nurturing her children. So why hesitate? There is a higher truth that may help you understand your hesitation. All wisdom tells us that material benefits are not the aim of life and that we should seek something higher. It is true. But it is also true that the material world -- our physical bodies and our personal environment are the foundation for all our higher seekings. Making them healthy, comfortable, cheerful, beautiful and harmonious, creates the right atmosphere and conditions for psychological and spiritual progress.

If you have material needs or problems of money or health, it is better to solve them first so your mind and energy will be freed for higher pursuits. In that sense, material abundance is the first step on the path to spiritual abundance.

Step5: Rejectany senseof hesitationor wrongdoingwhenyouask for material benefitsfromthe universe.

Are you talkingto everyoneaboutit?

The Secret failed to mention one important fact. It is better not to speak about an accomplishment until you have achieved it. This advice is based on age-old knowledge. Silencehas power. All accomplishment requires psychological energy. Speaking to others about your accomplishment expends energy that should be conserved to help you get results. The less said, the better. When we speak to others about what we are seeking, we often feel a silent satisfaction. When we confide in others "I am going to get a million dollars" or "I am going to be first in my class" we feel more important and satisfied. That satisfaction creates a short circuit that cancels our accomplishment.

Step6: The rule for all accomplishmentis to remainsilent until you get the result. Conserveyourenergy.Eventhen, the less said the better!

Are you impatientfor results?

Impatience is a sign of weakness. It postpones results. The Secret tells you to intensely aspire for the result with the total conviction that it will come and the emotional joy as if it had already been achieved. Impatience is a sign that you are not practicing the method. You are worrying or subconsciously anxious whether it will come. If your faith in the result were total -- if you knew it was a certainty -- you would not be impatient or even in a hurry. Expectations are another form of impatience. It also postpones results. When you are expectant, you are continuously waiting for something to happen. When you wait expectantly, results are postponed. Aspiration is the opposite of expectation. When you aspire for a result, you feel the joy of seeking and the joy of pursuing it and do not worry about the result itself. When you aspire, you rely on the intensity of your own seeking. That brings the result sooner. The right formula is to act as though you had all eternity to achieve the results, but aspire with an intensity to accomplish the next moment. If impatience and expectation are postponing your accomplishment, don't worry.

Step7: Forgetthe result. Concentrateon the processof seekingthe result. Be cheerfuland calm.Enjoythe process.Resultsare a certainty.

Are you completelypositive?

Confidence and Cheerfulness are simple tests of whether you are practicing The Secret correctly. The universe responds positively when you are completely positive in your thoughts, words and acts. No compromise. Being positive means thinking and feeling only positive about other people. There is no room for brooding, worrying, anxiety, annoyance, frustration or any other type of disturbing feeling. Being positive also means thinking and feeling only positively about yourself. Reject all negative feelings about yourself. Refuse to blame yourself or put yourself down.Reject all attitudes of doubt, self-condemnation, and lack of self-worth. Step8: Be positiveand enthusiastic.

Did you really try?

Millions of people have bought the book or seen the DVD of The Secret, but how many have really read it through and studied it very seriously? If general statistics about book reading have any validity, probably not more than 25% or maximum 50%,have really read it through and studied it very seriously. And of those who have read it and studied it thoroughly, how many have really tried to practice the method seriously and sincerely? How about you?

If you really want high achievement, you have to be willing to work for it. Otherwise you are only wishing for it, not willing to make it happen. The Secret is not a way to accomplish without effort. It is a way to accomplish the maximum than you would otherwise accomplish with the same expenditure of energy and effort. Normally we expend our energy and effort physically running after a result. The Secret advises us to spend that energy mentally and psychologically aspiring, envisioning, emotionalizing and feeling positively. The effort required is not less. It is only different. It is an inner effort instead of an external effort. *The difference is not in the effort required but in the magnitude of the results that you can achieve. And that difference is exponential!

Step9: Makeyour effort exhaustive.Do everythingyou can to achieveyouraspiration.Makethe maximumeffort youare capableof and youwill get the maximumresults the universecan give you.

Howdo you havesufficientenergy?

Energy is the fuel for all accomplishment. The greater the energy, the greater the result. Thinking positively generates more mental energy. Feeling positively generates more vital emotional energy. Acting positively releases more physical energy. When you want to achieve big time, you should avoid all wasteful unnecessary expenditure of energy on useless things that dissipate precious energy needed for your accomplishment. Practicing The Secret expands your being and fills you with even greater energy.

If you find your energy is not sufficient to bring the result you aspire for, then you can increase your energy by asking the universe to give you more.

Step10: Managethe energiesyou haveso nothingis wastedandtry to createmoreand moreenergyby increasingyour aspiration, positiveattitudeand effort. How to Find Motivation to Do Homework

Edited by Flickety, Luke, Dman0875, Travis Derouin and 125 others

Very few students like to do homework and everyone seems to put it off. Here's how to get over your procrastination and be motivated to study.

Edit

Steps

1.

1
Planaheadto havefree timeafter school. If you have a study period, do as much of your homework then as possible. The more you do while you are at school, the less you will need to do at home. Try to do all of it in class (if time is provided), at lunch, or any other spare time you might have. This way you may, also, get help while at school, if you don't understand. Ask your teachers while they are available: they're there to assist you. Let them serve you.

Put the hardest class' homework at the top of your list. Why? Well, this allows you to kick it up a notch! You can start; move on; then continue re-think-ing it (starting gives it a place in the "depths" of your mind -- an inventive part of your mind) and then going back to it, to do more, so you won't get too bogged down, but it will have priority for the subconscious mind to work on it! See, you don't have to get stuck in that problem -- that might take all of

your time: Do a quick effort; make it a worthwhile try, then go onward to less demanding homework. Later, going back -- and seeing how you can improve the first one with fresh bits and pieces. Open "secret back-channels" (ooh...) -- just starting, even if you have to come back to finish, gets your creativity to kick in (this gets dark recesses of your mind to really work for you!). Creative juices can be inspiring, refreshing, helpful!

2.

2
Breakit down: Make piecework; quickly overview the topic: scan! ~ Read headings, intro, maps, charts, pictures, captions, bold or italic lettering, footnotes, chapter summary, to get ideas and perspectives/angles for ideas to start yourself thinking. ~ Begin your answer to each problem and essay question, by doing parts! How? Make a first sentence or step, do any logical, little bits and bites (go step-by-step). ~ Add a second thought/step and another -- each flowing from the previous one. Going one phrase or sentence at a time makes it possible to write or do something. ~ Skip some lines, to leave room to fill in later -- if you need to move on to another area. To re-kick-start an answer: Readwhatyou havealreadywritten/orhavedoneto checkit, andsee whatflowsfromthere, to lead your thinking to your next thought/step, and so on.

3.

3
Set goalsandrewards. Once you've completed your goal and finished your homework, reward yourself with some little thing that you would find enjoyable and doable after you finish. (Don't use food or treats as a reward, though - eating could lead to health and weight problems later -- unless it's a "free snack": small salad, or two crackers, 3 or 4 almonds/other nuts, one bite of meat, or a cup of tea.) Save a special book to read when homework is done, or make plans to talk with a friend on the phone as soon as both of you have completed your assignments. Go on your favorite website, or even dedicate yourself to a great project you've always been wanting to do.

Take advantage of any holidays or vacations that may be coming near as a motivator. On a Thursday, remind yourself that it is almost the weekend, and the moment this homework assignment is done you'll be one

moment closer. Remember that Thanksgiving, winter break, or summer break is nearing, and the moment your homework is done you can enjoy it to its fullest.

4.

4
Avoidprocrastination . The surest way to get over procrastination is to take care of a task as soon as you think of it - don't delay and tell yourself you'll do it later.

relax.

Think of it this way: If you procrastinate, you're spending time worrying about the task in addition to the time you actually do it. If you just take action and complete it as soon as you think of it -- then you'll have more time to

5.

5
Worksmarter, not harder. A fried brain absorbs little information. Break up your homework time into chunks. Take regular breaks. Set a timer; take a 5- to 10-minute break for each hour you study. Get up, stretch, and move around. Drink water and eat a little fruit: water will refresh your system, and 1/2 an apple provides a better effect than a sugary, energy drink.

6.

6
Thinkof the consequences. What will happen, if you don't do your homework? Will you get a bad grade? Will your teacher be disappointed of you? If none of these things seem to apply to you, remember that homework is to help you learn, which everyone ultimately wants. In the real world, knowledge helps you master the rules of the game.

7.

7
Thinkof the benefits. What will happen, if you do your homework? You'll get a great grade. Your teacher will appreciate your efforts. You'd have learned a great deal, and you'd be paving your way for a better life simply by putting your pencil to paper! Putting yourself in a positive state will reap in the benefits and ultimately surge you with the energy and hope to focus back on your work, and even enjoy what you're doing!

8.

8
Finda placewith less distraction. Set up your special study place. No friends, television, or other potential distractions should be present. Your homework place should also have a hard surface, like a table, to write on. If you need to do some of your

homework on a computer, as many high school students do, make sure to avoid chat programs, unrelated websites, etc. If you have difficulty keeping focused, or awake, consider doing your homework at the library, at a table with some amount of foot traffic passing by it. The quiet atmosphere will help you focus, the surrounding mild activity will help keep you from falling asleep, and if you get stuck, there are those helpful librarians and references.

9.

9
Straightenyourdesk/room.It's easier to concentrate on your homework when you don't have clutter in your work space. Take 5 minutes to tidy up your immediate area before you get started.

leave it at that.

Don't go on a cleaning binge as a way to procrastinate. Focus only on where you'll be working, and

10.

10
Finda homeworkpartner. Make sure this person isn't one of your crazy friends who'll distract you. Find someone to sit with who is quiet and focused. This will help you feel comfortable working, because someone else is working along with you. Just be sure not to end up talking more than working.

11.

11
Createyour ownlearningmethod. Everybody learns at their own pace and uses different methods to help memorize the material. Some find walking helpful, while others like to listen to music while they study. Whatever it is, experiment until you find something that seems to work well for you.

12.

12
Listento somequiet music(optional). Listening to music and studying does not work for everyone. If you are going to listen to music, try to listen to classical music or instrumental songs. Or if classical isn't for you, just pick quiet songs that you don't know, and start working, so you don't get caught up in the words.

13.

13
Do physicalexercisesduringstudybreaks. It will help relieve tension and make you feel awake. Walk around a bit, stretch, do jumping jacks, or jog in place.

14.

14
Makea routine. A routine will get you into doing homework as a habit. Schedule times and days so you are totally organized as to what you're doing this week, the next, and even the week afterwards. Surprises will occur, but at the very least, you know what you're doing!

15.

15
Disconnect. Turn off computer, phone etc. that could distract you easily. Don't get wrapped up on the computer or phone on a break because you will not remember what you were learning about and it will delay your finish time. Stay away from them at all costs unless you must do the homework on the computer.

Put phone, computer, and anything else that might distract you far from reach. Then stay in a quiet room where you know you won't get distracted. Keep a timer for every 30 minutes to an hour, so you know how long you've been working and can still keep track of time.

16.

16
Prioritize. Divide your homework according to your ability in the subject. If you're not so good, do it first. If it's an easy assignment, take a break and do it in 15 minutes or so, then get working again! If it's a long-term project, do it last. Not that it's not as important, but you need to save your time for the things with near-due-dates.

17.

17

Get somesuccess: you might prefer to get 1 or 2 easy tasks over-with at the start of a homework session, saving the hard stuff for last. Diving right into the hard stuff can be discouraging, and studies show that many people learn well when they start with easier material and work up to the harder stuff. Getting a few easy tasks done quickly can remind you of how good it feels to be productive.

18.

18
Use simplerproblemsto find the stepsto do hardersolutions. Most problems can be broken down into simpler problems. That's a key to try on most math and science work and exams.

Tips
Don't get frustrated. If you are having trouble getting through a certain assignment and it takes a long time,

temporarily switch to another assignment. Make sure you get a good nights sleep the night before. You will be able to work better if you are not tired. Studies show that during sleep, the brain tends to hold the memories you have right before you go to sleep. Therefore, if you have to memorize something, try to learn it just before bed. That does not mean you can cram 100 vocabulary words right before you go to sleep; memorize some during the day so that right before sleep you can review most or all of them.

If you can help it, don't go to bed before you finish your homework. What will happen is that you'll say, "Oh I'll get up early the next morning to finish it." Then, you either don't get up early enough, or you do, and you're totally worn out for the rest of the day.

Make time for breakfast and lunch. It does play a role in your ability to think. If you really don't want to do your homework, then just get everything ready to do your homework: paper, pencil, textbook, and maybe a cup of tea. Then sit down and open the book to the page you need to read. Then read the first paragraph. Usually by then you will feel that you can write the first sentence, of an answer, report or of notes.

Start with your notes or texts in front of you, don't do it alone, not guessing how to get solutions, use the notes you have from class. Tell yourself, "I'll only work 5 more problems/20 minutes." If you want to stop after 20 minutes, but need to go longer -- take a little break; then go right back to the work.

Tell yourself, "Just 5 more...", and begin to study again. You'll probably go longer without realizing... Repeat!

Avoid procrastinating that may affect your plans for the rest of the day. Say you start thinking, "Oh, I'll do it tonight" then look at your plans, and you would have something there, "Nope, my favorite show is on." Use your spare time at school, and while riding the bus to begin your homework. Do the rest of your homework right after arriving at home. You are still in the school learning mode, and it will be easier to remember all you have learned. Then, you will have the rest of the day and evening free, without having to even think of school, until the next day.

Do your homework on a table or desk, but never try to work on the couch or in your bed. You will get bored, and the bed is so soft, you might fall asleep. Even if you are not like the people who could actually fall asleep, you will get comfortable and distracted.

If the homework is going to take a long time (2+ hours), take a 15-minute break every hour. On the break, do not start your reward or anything else that you might be tempted to use as an excuse to not go back to your homework. Don't get really worried! It's only homework. Next week you'll be wondering 'why ever did I get so worked up about it?' Think about a few years into the future after all of your exams when you won't ever have to do homework again. Change your perspective so you can, essentially, reach back into the past to change what's going on in life now.

If there is something you don't understand, write down a specific question, or mark the page in your book. Then you can ask your teacher for detailed help. If you just go to your teacher and say, "I didn't understand the homework; so I couldn't finish it," it will be difficult for her/him to help you -- if you can't be specific about what was actually hindering you. The teacher will start explaining too basically or too advanced, and bore you (this frustrates both you and the teacher). So instead, say exactly what you need to get cleared up.

tempted.

It's easier to recall something if you remembered it under a similar environment, known as state-dependent learning. That's why it is important to study at a table and with proper lighting instead of reading on your bed, for example. Don't get really stressed about not being able to do homework. There's plenty of help around - the Internet, parents, friends, etc. If all else fails, you can go into school early and ask your teacher to explain the work to you. If you do homework with a friend, it's easy to get off subject and not do work in time. Of course, it's perfectly fine to be part of a study group if you know you can all focus. Get inspired to do it! Make colorful charts, and diagrams to help speed up this process. If you need to use the computer for homework, do not get caught up in interesting ads that could lead to browsing the web and interrupting your work. If you can, try using a blocker to block these things and try not to get

Lock yourself in a mental block where only school comes through. Write down motivational suggestions that work for you, to start homework or assessments. If you're going through a list of motivational techniques, such as these, write down all of the techniques that make you go "hmmm, that actually might work". By doing this, next time you can look at your own list that is you-specific. You will find that you get your work started faster, and will feel more in control.

If you choose to listen to music, be aware that studies show you perform best on a test when the conditions, light, noise, etc. are the closest to the conditions you studied with, known as state-dependent learning. Music may often help you concentrate; though try to avoid music with lyrics or very complex melodic progressions, as they may cause you to think more about the music than your homework. Certain classical music and some jazz are good for listening to while doing homework. Trance is the best style of music for studying; many people find studying to trance music very easily because most trance music is pure instrumental.

If you are an extreme procrastinator, you might try some "structured procrastination". As the suggestion above says, do the easy homework before doing the hard homework, however not just to give yourself a sense of accomplishment, but also to avoid doing the big stuff. When it comes to the big stuff, find another larger task to avoid, like annoying house chores, to put off in order to do this homework, instead. While, in the long run, this method is not productive, because eventually you will have some really big things that you keep putting off for smaller ones, still it can be more satisfying/effective for a hardened procrastinator, to get motivated.

If you have a really hard homework, do easier homework first so that you are not stuck and standing still. Some people use 'study drugs' in order to stay awake, hoping to stay focused. While this may be an effective way to avoid sleep, be aware that using drugs in this manner may cause unwanted side effects, such as mild depression, anxiety, insomnia, etc., and is illegal. Since psychotropic drugs work differently for different people, this is not an effective way to study.

Warnings
Make sure to eat healthy, small snacks for better brain function (not to be drowsy). Staying up late to finish your homework is not a good idea: you will be really sleepy and won't pay attention in

your classes.
