Madeenathunnoor College of Islamic Science (MNC), an Islamic liberal arts college and an autonomous centre for excellence of the popular South Indian religious institute, Markazu Ssaqafathi Ssunniyya, Calicut, Kerala conducts its first convocation ceremony in January 13, 2014. Since more than one decade in its existence, MNC has been part of a tremendous production and dissemination of knowledge through its rigorous critical inquiry. Through a variety of interdisciplinary engagements, MNC has created a newer and wider platform to look into a number of burning scholarly concerns of our time. In the festive moments of our first convocation, we attempt to invigorate and mobilize the intellectual passions of different hues from different parts of the nation. This is the context of this All India Essay Competition. Essay Theme

Quran and its contemporary life


Quran is the devout and sacred book of Muslims who respects it and holds it in due admiration. Quran is said to be the divine guidance of Lord Almighty through which He has communicated His teachings to mankind. It gives a detailed understanding on all aspects of our living be it social, political, economic or educational. There is no human work in existence that contains statements as far beyond the level of knowledge of its time as the Quran. It speaks the mankind of every time and every region and religion. To what extend society developed, Quran accompany the man paving the way forward. But as a nature of any skilled work, Quran also faces some criticism which arose only because of religious rivalry and because of not understanding the exact meaning of Quran. The present essay competition focuses on the theme, Quran and its contemporary life. Its expected that this focus will trigger the candidates to a number of unexplored areas of contemporary life of Holy Quran as an anchor for the worlds thoughts and practices. A number of specific subthemes can be brought into this topic including but not limited to the Holy Qurans impact, importance, aesthetics, hermeneutics and criticisms formed and emerged during the contemporary times.

Rules and Regulations Essay should be completely in original. Essay should write with solid evidence and clear cut authentic study or report. Ideas of content can contrast from any type of text related to the topic at multiple aspects. Arabic, English languages are only allowed for the essay. Essay should comprise with not less than 20 pages, typed, font size-12, and Arial mode font. Students, research fellows in any disciplines can participate the contest. Participants should attach with the copy of essay an affidavit which proves his studentship. Participants should submit a soft copy of essay into mggicompetition@gmail.com with a brief bio data All the submitted papers will judge by the selected team of celebrated academics, scholars, journalists. The design of the essay should be the design of usual academic essay with citations and bibliography, being clearly there. Winners awards will distribute in the grand closing ceremony of Markaz Garden convocation, at the esteemed presence of international scholars and leaders. The copyright of all essays would be vested to the competition committee. A copyright statement should also be attached with essay. The last date for copy submission is 20 December, 2103. The belated arrival would be completely rejected.

The winners will be provided three days accommodation, food, and all other facilities to participate in ceremony. All participants also would be provided the certificate of participation and some books and CDs as a gift.
