People recognize a difference between children and adults.

What events
(experiences or ceremonies) make a person an adult? Use specific reasons and
examples to explain your answer
-----------------------------------------------------------

Adulthood can be defined as a stage of biological; physiological and psychological

change in a child that makes an impact on his or her character and social status.
Those aspects are sometimes inconsistent and contradictory. A person may be
biologically an adult, and have adult behavioral characteristics yet may be
treated as a child if one is under the legal age of majority. Conversely one may
legally be an adult but possess none of the maturity and responsibility that
define adult character.

Attainment of adolescence age is the event among many. Some sects perform rites
and ceremonies on this occasion. However most modern societies determine legal
adulthood based on reaching a legally-specified age without requiring a
demonstration of physical maturity or preparation for adulthood. Some more events
that are indicative of adulthood in the legal perspective are the eligibility to
driving license, voter card and getting into a government job and getting married.

Adulthood is generally believed as the time when physical maturity is complete.

One reaches their maximum height and secondary sex characteristics form such as
body hair and facial hair, voice lowers in pitch especially noticeable in men, and
menses begin in women. Sleep patterns change in adulthood, as adults typically
require less sleep than adolescents.

Furthermore a common theory is that adulthood is the real test of life is to

experience the world as a first person instead of through the parents. Then the
adult can pass those experiences down to younger people and they can experience
them when they grow up.

Summing-up, important traits of an adult are: - self-control, emotional control,

stability, dynamic personality, ability to govern self and deal with life, sense
of responsibility, accountability, commitment, reliability, vision, patience,
endurance, experience, understanding, courage to face difficulties and objectivity
with perspective and reality.
