Supreme court directions

Supreme court has directed government to follow certain norms: Proper market price of the land to the family. Government must ensure family that the government is going to provide job to at least one member of family. Worker would be empowered by skills on government expenses.

LAND ACQUSITION BILL

Recently UPA government has passed land acquisition bill in parliament the basic content of bill is The Act has provisions to provide fair compensation to those whose land is taken away, brings transparency to the process of acquisition of land to set up factories or buildings, infrastructural projects and assures rehabilitation of those affected.

 According to the draft rules released by the Ministry the state governments should take immediate steps to create and establish the State Social Impact Assessment Unit, the office of the Commissioner Rehabilitation and Resettlement and the State Level Monitoring Committee. The bill was brought as the archaic Act of 1894 suffered from various shortcomings, including silence on the issue of resettlement and rehabilitation of those displaced by acquisition of land

 Make adequate provisions for such affected persons for their rehabilitation and resettlement. Provide just and fair compensation to the affected families whose land has been acquired or proposed to be acquired or are affected by such acquisition.
