Notable points
Competition was organized in the classes All kids didnt participate, in prenursery, they were not well prepared Nursery class, taken by Shumaila, did very well, kids were well prepared and their expressions were exceptional, except three kids, who are new to the class (new admissions) 1.

Suggestions/New Ideas
When one section of K.G class was observed, teacher told me that she has shortlisted the students who have performed really well in the practice week and the final competition took place between those students only I liked the idea of gathering at one place and having a debate competition, if one campus can manage I am sure that other campuses also have the ability to manage debate competitions at one place (Idea can be discussed so that we can implement that in the next session) Following are some advantages (observed) of holding a debate competition at one place: This creates hype and students get motivated to participate. Other kids also get a chance to listen to the debates of the students of other classes Watching the performance of well prepared debaters can help improving the expressions and body language of kids Marking sheet, for taking out positions of debate competition should be designed and circulated among all the SMs. (The sheet should be identical) Relevant teachers and students should be informed about the marking criteria under which debates are going to get judged Teachers should stop the

All the kids participated Well prepared in terms of content but lacked expressions and actions The way of delivery of debates was not proper (kids lacked eye contact and appropriate body language) Positions were taken out just after listening to the debates there was no marking criteria (like points for content learning, eye contact body language etc)

student and correct him/her for the false expressions while the speech is being delivered, during practice time (continuous coaching is very important) 1. 2. Participation was limited to volunteer kids Teacher was pointing out the kids but they were really shy to come out and participate Some kids were hesitant because they didnt learn the content of the speech Teacher gave 5 minutes for preparing two lines to those kids who didnt learn the content of the speech Teacher was guiding the kids side by side for giving expressions, raising their voice etc. Everyone Participated Expressions were good One or two kids were not well prepared but still they participated and spoke two to four sentences in front of the class In grade 5 kids were not well prepared Kids who delivered the debate were good in expressions Teacher was giving punishment for not preparing the debate In grade 1, kids were really participative Teacher of grade1 was appreciating the students, which was motivating them to participate Teachers expressions were excellent, which were very visible in the students performances Kids performed very creatively and with excellent expressions Teacher was involving the students, who were not willing to participate, they were hardly 2 in number Teacher was not allowing the students to do any other kind of work, so that they can focus only on the debate performance

Appreciation motivates the kids to participate Involving kids in the competition will help in improving their expressions and creativity We should not stop the kids of pre-school and early primary years (1 &2) while they are delivering the speech, let them think creatively and express, this will enhance their confidence, creativity and public speaking skills
