People are recognizing the benefits of packing smarter and lighter. Think about your gear morehow each item in your pack will be used. Leave behind the unecessary stuff and focus on the essentials. With practice, you will know your gear inside and out and when to pack it. This knowledge will be to your advantage. You'll be hiking further with ease in no time. You may even finish the PCT this time. Here is a list of lightweight gear we compiled totalling 7.05 lbs!!! Keep in mind, this list is for the hardcore hiker traveling "super ultra-light." This is about as realistically minimal as one can get. You might even decide to upgrade certain items for more comfort, adding slightly more weight. Weight vs. comfort is the trade-off. Get to know your gear. Two important components of this kit is the 3-Layer Sleep System and the Clothing System. You can see how functional the Wild Things Primaloft Jacket becomes. And please note that the clothing you wear while hiking in fair conditions is not added to the pack weight since it is on your body. Compare this gear to yours and lighten up. Remember, Debate the Weight!
