Newsletter of the Enlisted Association of the National Guard of the United States Auxiliary VOLUME 42, ISSUE 3 NOVEMBER 2013 Auxiliary Presidents Message
Fall is in the air with so many beautiful colored trees in the Virginia Area. On my recent trip to San Antonio I realized how much I love the warmer weather. When I arrived there, there was some time to relax by the pool with perfect warm sun and a wonderful breeze. I attended the EANGUS Executive Council Meeting, where we began with a tour of the USAA Headquarters. This is a magnicent facility. There are so many wonderful benets for their employees. Everyone was so friendly and we were treated to a delightful lunch. The next EANGUS Executive Council meeting will be held on WebEx to cut down on expenses. Hope all of you enjoyed Veterans Day. My sincere thanks to all of you who served, are serving, and our next generations to serve. I have included the updated EANGUS Auxiliary Ofcers, Area Directors, and Committees. If you see any corrections please let me know. I look forward to working with all of you this year. Our Treasurer, Cora Sower has mailed out the membership information and transmittals which are due back to her NLT Dec. 31,2013. If your state has not received one please email her at sowertuba@juno.com. It is very important to ensure your state auxiliary send this information in, so they will have a vote at the conference in Phoenix. This is an election year. There is a revised EANGUS Auxiliary Life Membership Form explaining eligibility. Our new EANGUS Auxiliary Associate Life Membership is attached for you to sign up anyone wanting to support our efforts. Both forms can be copied and are available on the EANGUS website at www.eangus.org. Dianne Williams, our membership chair, has included an updated Membership Brochure also. I hope everyone enjoys time with your family and friends over the holidays. As we all get together at Thanksgiving, please remember the Families who are separated and keep them in your prayers. Happy Thanksgiving from my family to yours!

(MS) LEGISLATIVE CORNER Congress Passes Veterans' Cost-of-Living Increase (13 Nov 2013) On November 12, 2013, the U.S. House of Representatives voted and passed Senate bill S. 893, the Veterans' Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment Act of 2013, which has now been sent to the President for his signature. This measure will increase veterans' disability compensation, survivor benets and clothing allowances by the same percentage as Social Security benet increases scheduled to take effect on December 1, 2013. A cost estimate released by the Congressional Budget Ofce concluded the legislation would result in a 1.5 percent cost-of-living increase. As a major step forward, for the rst time in almost two decades, the COLA will not be rounded down to the nearest whole dollar unless it is less than fty cents, but will be rounded up to the nearest whole dollar if greater than fty cents. DAV's long-standing resolution has sought legislation like S. 893, which was introduced by Sen. Bernie Sanders (VT), to end the unfair practice of rounding down COLAs. DAV testied before the Senate Veterans' Affairs Committee on June 12, 2013, commending Chairman Sanders for his forward thinking by not including the round down provision in his bill, as this practice has syphoned millions of dollars annually from disabled veterans, their families and survivors for far too long in what was to be a temporary measure 20 years ago. 2012-2014 OFFICERS & COMMITTEES LISTING OF EANGUS AUXILIARY OFFICERS AND COMMITTEES 2012-2014 LISTING OF EANGUS AUXILIARY OFFICERS AND COMMITTEES 2012-2014 LISTING OF EANGUS AUXILIARY OFFICERS AND COMMITTEES 2012-2014 LISTING OF EANGUS AUXILIARY OFFICERS AND COMMITTEES 2012-2014 LISTING OF EANGUS AUXILIARY OFFICERS AND COMMITTEES 2012-2014 LISTING OF EANGUS AUXILIARY OFFICERS AND COMMITTEES 2012-2014 LISTING OF EANGUS AUXILIARY OFFICERS AND COMMITTEES 2012-2014 LISTING OF EANGUS AUXILIARY OFFICERS AND COMMITTEES 2012-2014 LISTING OF EANGUS AUXILIARY OFFICERS AND COMMITTEES 2012-2014 PRESIDENT 2012-14 Jenny Lainhart 13826 Greendale Dr. Woodbridge VA 22191 571.723.3325 jlainhart@ymail.com VICE-PRESIDENT 2012-14 Judy Wood 230 CR 424 Centre AL 35960 256.706.0573 judypwood@aol.com SECRETARY 2012-14 Wanda Ryan 420 Center St. Carbondale KS 66414 785.640.2341 marie10064@aol.com TREASURER 2012-14 Cora Sower 9297 Kolander Rd Siren WI 54872 715.653.2231 sowertuba@juno.com PAST PRESIDENT 2012-14 Vivian Taylor PO Box 101 Clara MS 39324 601.735.9236 vivtay7@aol.com AREA DIRECTORS AREA DIRECTORS AREA DIRECTORS AREA DIRECTORS AREA DIRECTORS AREA DIRECTORS AREA DIRECTORS AREA DIRECTORS AREA DIRECTORS AREA I Vacant AREA I Vacant AREA II 2012-14 Cathy Hammack 7202 Sissonville Dr. Sissonville WV 25320 304.932.5826 cghammack@aol.com AREA II 2013-15 Margie Holcomb 6310 Queens Lace Rd Mechanicsville VA 23111 804.514.4355 margie_holcomb@msn.com AREA III 2013-15 Dianne Williams 2203 Pinewood Dr Brunswick GA 31520 912.265.9516 dyywill@earthlink.net AREA III 2012-14 Marie Brabham 3329 Aspen Forest Dr Middleburg FL 32068 904.291.6778 sassyat52@aol.com AREA IV 2012-14 Judith Putman 1234 Road 137 Emporia KS 66801 620.344.0573 jlputman@hotmail.com AREA IV 2013-15 Kim Clay PO Box 10 Ball LA 71405 318.640.3828 kclay71@yahoo.com AREA V 2012-14 Angela Kennebeck 1301 SE Trilein Dr. Ankeny IA 50021 515.971.5964 angela.kennebeck@gmail.com AREA V 2013-15 Chris Sower 9297 Kolander Rd Siren WI 54872 715.566.1627 sowerson1@juno.com AREA VI 2012-14 Linda Lyon 2751 Jackson St. Laramie WY 82070 307.742.5960 lyon.lll@hotmail.com AREA VI 2013-15 Polly Williams 469 E 1560 N Pleasant GroveUT 84062 801.783.9967 pollysue87@gmail.com AREA VII Vacant AREA VII Vacant ORGANIZING PRESIDENT1973-74 Mary McKamey PAST PRESIDENT 1974-76 Doris Williams Deceased PAST PRESIDENT 1976-77 June O'Dowd 130 Fourth St. Houma LA 70364 309.202.5827 PAST PRESIDENT 1977-80 Lois Goodson Deceased PAST PRESIDENT 1980-82 Sara Hendricks 6893 Augusta Hills Dr NE Rio Rancho NM 87144 505.771.2434 hendhaus@q.com PAST PRESIDENT 1982-84 Delores Ford Deceased PAST PRESIDENT 1984-88 Nancy McDowell 817 Franklin Ave Wheelersburg OH 45694 740.574.5932 lsecretary@yahoo.com PAST PRESIDENT 1988-90 Mary Galberth 10905 E 11th Ave Spokane WA 99206 509.891.2891 mjoyce@abbacomm.net PAST PRESIDENT 1990-94 Jane Rohloff 123 Charles St Schofield WI 54476 715.359.3586 PAST PRESIDENT 1994-98 Brooks Marr 2627 Pemberton Ave Tupelo MS 38801 662.842.4939 marrb@bellsouth.net PAST PRESIDENT 1998-02 Dorothy Inglese PO Box 290516 Phelan CA 92329 760.868.6611 dorothyinglese61@gmail.com PAST PRESIDENT 2002-04 Debra Campbell 14383 Ramblewood Terrace Choctaw OK 73020 405.203.0687 campbelldj@cox.net PAST PRESIDENT 2004-08 Sheila Bandy 1063 Wilderness Way Shepherdsville KY 40165 502.773.4055 grannieplus3@aol.com PAST PRESIDENT 2008-10 Vivian Taylor PO Box 101 Clara MS 39324 601.735.9236 vivtay7@aol.com AWARDS 2012-14 Sheila Bandy 1063 Wilderness Way Shepherdsville KY 40165 502.773.4055 grannieplus3@aol.com BURDEN BEARS BURDEN BEARS BURDEN BEARS BURDEN BEARS BURDEN BEARS BURDEN BEARS BURDEN BEARS BURDEN BEARS BURDEN BEARS Chairman 2012-14 Sharon Henderson 1622 Drake Ave Centerville IA 52544 641.856.8372 kehendsjh@mchsi.com Assistant 2012-14 Dolores Edwards 225 Maple Ottawa KS 66067 Assistant 2012-14 Jeri Christiansen 8073 140 1/2 Ave SE Milnor ND 58060 701.427.5417 jeri@drtel.net Assistant 2012-14 Ruth Quam 1004 S 5th St Wapeton ND 58075 701.642.5448 rquam@wah.midco.net CHAPLAIN 2012-14 Sherry Blackwell 611 Bluebird Dr. Box Elder SD 57719 609.923.2955 sblackwell@rap.midco.net CONF.
