If its not an emergency, there are other options for fast, affordable care

Sometimes we need to see a doctor quickly. Accidents happen, and everyone gets sick. But you dont have to go to the emergency room (ER) for every health issue. If you go to the ER, you could wait hours before seeing a doctor and pay more than you should.

Health issue? How to save time and money

If you have a health issue, talk to your primary care doctor rst. He or she is the doctor you see for most care. When you call this doctor, youll learn if you should make an appointment or go to the ER. Your doctor might even suggest you go to a retail health clinic or urgent care. But when you cant see your doctor or if your doctors ofce is closed, you can choose an option below. It often takes less time than the ER and costs about the same as a doctor visit. Plus, most are open weeknights and weekends. Retail health clinic A clinic staffed by medical professionals who provide basic health services to walk-in patients. Usually in a major pharmacy or retail store. } Walk-in doctors ofce A doctors ofce that doesnt require you to already be a patient or have an appointment. Can handle routine care and common family illnesses. } Urgent care center A group of doctors who treat conditions that should be looked at right away but arent as severe as emergencies. Can often do X-rays, lab tests and stitches.

If you go to the ER for every health issue, youll pay more than you should. ERs are costly and often have long wait times too. Just look at the price difference:
