Carlos Andres Andrade Surrealist Artwork Review The picture shows a painting with a golden frame hung on a concrete

wall with graffiti on eat. The painting shows a new world, with beaches, ancient sculptures and artifacts, and lots of different textures such as cloudy skies blended in together. This was made with photoshop with a variety of techniques. First of the magnetic Lasso tool was used to the hands and swans that added a certain kind of random feeling to the artwork. Furthermore lots of blending with the eraser using different Opacity to blend in each of the objects so they dont seem out of place or poor quality even though the objects used will possibly never be together. For example For the sun some of the sky was kept and blended to produce a foggy, cloudy effect inviting mistery and curiosity from the audience this also adds a classy finish as lots of time was spent to make it seem as realistic but at the same time as dream like as possible. Next this picture was increased in hue and saturation to bring out the bright colours and attract the audiences attention and increased contrast was used to bring out the shape and shadow on the smallest details. Then using old paper texture I personally added texture to add depth. However a gold frame needed to be added to add the feeling of authenticity to the artwork that was done by turning the painting into a JPEG and then adding the frame and then turning the frame image into another Jpeg. This was then added to a concrete wall that has graffiti that was added with the quick selection tool. This was done to add more elements and more depth and overall excitement to the artwork. However the artwork wasnt only about excecution and technique it was also about soul and overall a deep in meanind surrealist image. This was achieved by the addition of objects that shows the unconscious the nedd of expression of the irracional and go against logic to create an image that works well despite the randomness and lack of links between of the objects. Overall the painting represents the dream of any working man the need of an escape that is what surrealism offers for an artist as a genre. However this brought in with the concrete building changes the meaning completely. The fact that the picture is hanging leaning towards the left suggests that the ordinary people dont really now when or how they are going to achieve their dream which suggests the impossible dream. This also suggests that the dream will never come true and is just something to admire not something to look up to as a goal of life, Furthermore the graffiti shows that there isnt anywhere in the world like the painting its all fake as everywhere in the world there is struggle and in someway we are going to have to deal with it which shows the irony and contrast between the concrete wall and the artwork. The contrast between the exotic and the everyday life shows the demented sense of humour that is present in all good work of surrealist art. Finally I believe that what make this artwork so successful is the effort of portraying a clean smooth image withour forgetting the meaning and the key elements to develop a surrealist image that can portray its meaning or message as easily as possible.
