This file contains updated information intended to serve as a supplement to the printed documentation, help system, and on-line documentation.

General
New Data-, Fax-, and Voice-class Connection Directory entries have the Modem Connection field on the Port Settings panel set to the first available connection by default. In previous versions, new modem type connections defaulted to [Current Connection . Procomm Plus will work best if you have an updated Windows 9 Information !.inf" file for your modem. In most cases, your modem manufacturer will provide this with your modem. #owever, we have included an IN$ %uilder utility that can &enerate .IN$ files for over ',()) different modems. The utility !pwinf4.exe" is located in your \programs directory. If you*ve confi&ured Procomm Plus to answer +ata calls, and you*re runnin& the Procomm ,emote #ost, Procomm will automatically determine whether an incomin& call is a +ata call or a ,emote controllin& computer, and direct the call appropriately.

ASPECT
Connection Directory entries created with the ASPECT dialadd command now default to first available connection. Previously, when a Connection Directory entry was created with dialadd, the connection would be set to [Current Connection . To &et this same functionality an ASPECT script could do the followin&proc main string myconnection = "home pc" dialadd data myconnection set dialentry access data myconnection set modem connection current set dialentry access off dialsave endproc The ./P01T command dllload will only load 2(-bit .dll files. The ./P01T command hangup is synonymous with disconnect with the followin& additionsIf the current Internet connection is throu&h a ,./ +ial-3p Networkin& connection, issuin& a hangup will cause Procomm Plus to han& up the phone line in addition to disconnectin& the current T1P4IP port. The ./P01T command wizard has been added to Procomm Plus. The wizard command starts the specified wi5ard and reports /3110// if the specified file was located and started. wizard filespec

The filespec must be the name of a valid wi5ard file- e.&., trouble.wiz. .ll ASPECT commands that attempt to dial or connect to an Internet host !dial, dialnumber, connect, and connectmanual" will now fail if, when the command is e6ecuted, it re7uires a mode switch to make the connection .N+ the current mode has a modal dialo& displayed.

Scanner Drivers
The 8icrotek scanner driver includes a file named fileio32.dll. Procomm Plus also includes a file of the same name. When scannin& from the Procomm Plus Fax Viewer usin& a 8icrotek scanner, you should follow these steps1. /tart the Procomm Plus Fax Viewer by itself with no other Procomm Plus component runnin&. 2. ,ename the Procomm Plus fileio32.dll to fileio32.bak or some other temporary name. 3. 3se the Fax Viewer to scan your documents. 4. ,ename the Procomm Plus fileio32.bak to fileio32.dll. If you have installed a fa6 modem, and you do not see the Procomm Plus 95 Fax printer in the Start menu*s Printers dialo&, restart Windows and the driver should be available. New pw4.ini settin& in the options! section"a#$se%hort&ames=' The default value of ' causes Procomm Plus to use the short file names when &eneratin& fa6es by printin& from 2rd party applications. New pw4.ini settin& in the options! section"a#(()(elay='*** This value, in milliseconds, defaults to '))) and causes the Procomm Plus to allow more time for 2rd party applications to respond to printin& re7uests. If Fax Manager starts as a ma6imi5ed window, and hides your Windows Taskbar, restorin& Fax Manager should resolve the problem. If you do not have a mail client installed, selectin& File ' Mail will cause Fax Manager to stop respondin& to the system. This is a result of 8icrosoft*s mapi.dll failin& to return the proper messa&e to Fax Manager. .ttemptin& to send a broadcast fa6 usin& multiple connections with the same make and model of modem may not work properly. =ou may e6perience transaction failures, e6treme delays between transactions, and possibly system lockups. This is due to T.PI*s limited ability to distin&uish between connections with the same name. This is not a problem caused by Procomm Plus. 1aller I+ will only work if you have 1aller I+ service from your telephone company, a modem that supports 1aller I+, and a T.PI /ervice Provider, such as 3nimodem49, that supports both 1aller I+ and your modem. .dditionally, you will need a Windows 9 Information !.inf" file for your modem. To help meet these re7uirements, we have included an IN$ %uilder utility that can &enerate 3nimodem49 compatible .inf files for over ',()) different modems. If this occurs, increase the value for the settin& "a#(()(elay in the options! section of your pw4.ini. In many cases, this will solve the problem. #owever, if this does not work, you will need to initiate the send process by printin& to the Procomm Plus 95 Fax printer driver from the desired application. If you send a fa6 usin& the Send a Fax %i(ard, the Com#an. %ame will not appear on the transmitted fa6. 3sin& Word Perfect ?.) to print to the Procomm Plus 9 $a6 driver will cause the fa6 ima&e to appear in landscape mode. The ma6imum si5e of a messa&e that can be viewed from within the 'nternet Mail Client or the *ews )eader depends upon a number of factors, includin& the number of news&roups offered by the server and the amount of ,.8 available for applications. If the ma6imum messa&e si5e is lar&er than either client can handle, you can still view the messa&e by savin& it to disk openin& it with any te6t editor, such as the ASPECT Editor. The *ews )eader creates temporary files when decodin& a messa&e containin& a binary file. %ecause of these temporary files, the decodin& operation will sometimes re7uire up to twice the drive space of the ori&inal file len&th. When the option Maximum lines #er article w3en #osting is set to ) !5ero" in the 0nternet1 %ews1 Re#l. panel of Set#!, the *ews )eader will not split encoded files it posts.
