SUBIECTUL I
Read the text below and complete the following tasks.

One way of learning how something works is to disassemble it, finding out (1)? People do much the same thing with complex issues, events, ideas, and phenomena of all types. That is, they break the complex whole into its component parts to gain a better understanding of the whole. This process of breaking things into their component parts is called analysis. Analysis in expository writing explains a subject by dividing it into its component parts and showing how they are related. The writer, in a sense, puts back together that (2). The process illustrates the saying: Knowledge comes from taking things apart; wisdom comes from putting them back together. The method of analysis to use depends greatly on the subject and the purpose of the writer. For example, a written analysis of a racing car engine would be structured differently from an analysis of the Civil War. And the Civil War (3) would require a different method of analysis than the Civil War looked at from the standpoint of its effect upon family life in the South. In our society, an entire group of writers does nothing but write reviews that analyse works of art, dance, film, theatre, and literature. And there are a lot of people interested in culture (4) and many students who are often called upon to review works of literature. (Cosmo Ferrara-The art of writing) 1.
