Grade 9 A and B Camp 2009

The epic adventure began on the 18th of May, as 9A and 9B headed off to Hobart. On the way we
needed a break. We used Campbell Town as the pit stop to feed ourselves.

On our arrival in Hobart, we made a pit stop at Cadburys to learn about the history of chocolate
and chocolate making. We especially enjoyed the gift shop. On the way to Lea Scout Camp we
took a break at the Hobart Aquatic Centre. We enjoyed the facilities that they had to offer, and
were amused by people showing their non-professional skills on the diving board.

After the excitement of the pool, we travelled to camp and settled into our cabins. That night we
played spotlight in the surrounding bushland. A few people found it hard to see and managed to
disassemble the camp water supply tank, sending water spurting everywhere.

With early rising and morning frost, we found it hard to get down to breakfast.
After eating we headed off to Port Arthur to discover our convict history. We enjoyed a boat ride
around the waters surrounding Port Arthur.

Later in the afternoon, we separated into two groups and went either Laser Tagging or Ice-skating.
Ice skating was very popular among the girls and we had great fun falling over on the ice and
walked out with wet bums. It was also surprisingly popular with the boys who were a sight to see
- their faces showed the embarrassment of their last fall. While laser tag was less popular with the
ladies, the new comradeship of teammates was evident after the 3 games.

Mures was next on the agenda, with a wide variety of delicacies from fish fingers to chicken
nuggets (the only two choices). Ice-cream gets a special mention too, bubble-gum flavour was the
best. Afterwards we set off on a journey through the streets of Hobart on the Salamanca Place
ghost tour. It was more of a history lesson than a spookfest.

On our last day, we visited the Hydro Tasmania “Hands On” centre. We learnt a lot about energy
and enjoyed the machine that gave out free Jaffas. Thanks to Hydro Tasmania for providing us with
the opportunity to visit them and learn a thing or two along the way.

After getting lost and spending a lot on shopping, we were on our way home.

Thanks to Hydro Tasmania, Lea Scout Camp and Morses Coaches as well as John our bus driver
for helping us to enjoy ourselves and to all the teachers for putting up with us.

 7A & 9 LGFG RSPCA Cupcake Day

Two grades are teaming up together, to create new relationships and understand how
they can support the wider community as active citizens. 7A and Grade 9 Looking Good
and Feeling Great classes are hosting “2009 RSPCA Cupcake Day” on Friday 21st August.
Students are working together to provide financial support for this worthy cause. Through
cooking, promotion, event planning and donations we hope to make a real contribution
but we need you’re help!!!!

Did you know that every year the RSPCA investigate over 48,000
cruelty complaints, to help animals that cannot help themselves?

To support 7A and 9 LGFG, place a cupcake order, by filling out the form
below and returning it with money to your child’s principal teacher. Order
will be delivered to your child to be bought home on Friday, 21st August.
You can purchase 1 tray of 6 cupcakes for $6.00 or purchase 2 trays of 12
cupcakes for $10.00.
