Cellular Games Viral Video/PSA 1) My audience is teenagers and young adults.

They are more prone to become engrossed in technology than are people above their 30s. 2) I am choosing to make a viral video/PSA because I enjoy humor and like the creative freedoms allowed in moviemaking, as compared to other genres. This genre works best because YouTube and other videohosting sites are popular among my target demographic. If a video is humorous and appeals to the interests of the public, it can be quickly shared and dispersed due to its popularity. 3) My message satires the degree to which individuals become engrossed on cellphones and smartphones in public. To the point where natural public interaction is nil. People using a smartphone that are oblivious to a team mate are eliminated by the game masters. One teammate will be calling out to the other for help while the other is engrossed in his/her phone. The teammate in need of help will be eliminated by the impeding threat. 4) The solution will be revealed at the end of the video in a PSA fashion. It will remind people to put their phones down and openly interact with individuals around them. It also offers a pseudo-website to take a pledge to put ones phone down and interact face-toface. The solution to this problem is simple, yet so hard to actually enact. 5) I am assuming that my video will be popular and well-received. Otherwise, it will go unnoticed and will be virtually ineffective. The power ultimately rests in the viewer. They decide whether or not to share the video. If they like it, they will, but if they dont, they wont share it.

Motion Chart on a Weebly Site 1) The intended audience for my genre ranges from young adults, to business professionals. Both the genre and the subject matter target these demographics. 2) The motion chart can show change over time, and the time is in regards to the amount spent on a phone each day. It is very clean and concise in conveying information. It is very effective compared to a stationary chart on a PowerPoint or poster board. The nature of this genre is very professional. It is not gratuitously flashy, nor is it distracting. Presentation of the chart and the Weebly site are professional in manner, so they can be included in meetings and presentations to offer support and elaboration upon key points within the presentation. 3) The subject of my page is the drive for achievement within corporate and business America as a source of public insensitivity and impersonal habits/behaviors. For the sake of employment and promotion, adults are taught to look at the world with a competitive eye. In order to stand-out from the crowd, individuals must perform and deliver products and ideas that elevate them above others. In order to be elevated, and individual must look down upon others as a reference point to measure how high they have progressed. This habit of looking down on others effectively separates individuals within society. I will then correlate the increased use of cell phones to decreased degrees of interaction and productivity. 4) This does not express a solution, but instead it illustrates and expands upon the problem, a driving force behind the impersonal Corporate American. The problem is that people see each other in competition for a job or promotion thus they distance themselves intellectually, emotional, and sometime physically to guarantee their individual vertical progression. 5) One assumption of this genre, in the manner of which I use it, is that individuals will utilize my chart even though it is not supported by quantifiable research data. It is created with arbitrary data to shape the graph to illustrate the effects of increased cell phone use. The site is open for public access, so I do not withhold any information. The power lies in the site visitor who decides how to utilize the information I presented.

Subway Poster 1) In a broad scope, my target audience is the general public because the poster will be displayed in public environments; however, the majority will go into public transit areas. In the public transit scene, the target demographic ranges from young adults to professionals but may include teens and families. 2) I chose this genre for the inherent degree of publicity associated with it. Subway posters are not selective in who views the message. Whether placed on columns, bus stations, or subway walls, the message is open to the entire public. The design of a poster also allowed me to express an artistic interpretation of a common problem in American society. Not all genres possess such an openness to the public, such as handouts or lectures that are only offered to specified individuals. 3) In the center of the poster, there is a person with a phone up to their ear. They are talking incessantly producing a cloud of blah, blah, blah around them. He is isolated within the bubble of his conversation. Outside of his bubble, are three individuals attempting to get his attention with greetings like, hey, hi, and hola (to be multicultural). Their attempts are unsuccessful so they are depicted with frowns on their faces. The man in the middle is oblivious to his surroundings. The bottom right corner contains the solution to the problem: There is more to life than a phone: engage your surroundings. 4) This genre assumes that people will divert their attention to a poster while engaging in conversation or from their cell phones. To help capture peoples attentions, the background is bright yellow, and the words are vibrant reds and blues. Ultimate power lies in the eyes of the beholder. They can consider the message of the poster or be apathetic towards it.
