What CAN go in food waste: Meat and fish - raw and cooked including bones. All dairy products such as eggs and cheese. Fruit and vegetables raw and cooked.

Alternatively, residents can take garden waste to the boroughs Reuse and Recycling Centre, or compost garden waste at home.

NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH
Living in an NHW area can reduce crime and the fear of crime by improved home security, greater vigilance, accurate reporting of suspicious incidents to the police and by fostering a community spirit. NHW is not about: Being nosey, Becoming a vigilante or snooping on neighbours. Anyone can be a member of NHW and its FREE to join. Research suggests that those who live in a NHW area are less likely to be victims of burglary, which is why some insurance companies offer discounted rates to members. RORP RUNNING CLUB: MEMBERS WANTED

Whether to assist with a target of a 5K, 10K, half Marathon or Marathon, RORP RC aims to be source of support and friendship with a primary aim of keeping fit and staying healthy in a relaxed group. STARTING ON: Saturday 30th November 2013, meet every Saturday morning at 9am in the car park at the front of the estate, and at other times informally, perhaps early morning or after work. To run for an hour; taking in either Tooting Bec, Streatham Common or Mitcham Common; and periodically take part in Brockwell Park, Park Run (5K) which is open to anyone to register for and takes place every week.

TITLE

THE FRONT OF YOUR PROPERTY & WOODEN CLADDING

In accordance with keeping the estate fresh and tidy, we recommend all home owners keep rubbish bins in their gardens until 9 pm the night before rubbish collection, and then put them back into your gardens by 9 pm on the day of collection. This will help to keep the new and uniformed look of Rowan Park. Residents living in flats should ensure all rubbish is placed in the communal bins, and not left on the floor of the bin store. We are aware of a door issue with one of the blocks and this is currently being looked into by Chamonix. The wooden cladding is sweet chestnut which will go silver over time if left untreated. If you want to preserve your cladding, we recommend a clear satin varnish. This will keep your home looking new and will maintain the appearance and uniformity of the estate.

PRIVATE ROAD = NO ROAD / PAVEMENT SWEEPERS

Did you know the roads and pavements within Rowan Park are private,? This means that we do not benefit from the local council sweeping our roads and pavements on a regular basis. Therefore if residents or visitors drop litter / or a fox rips open your rubbish, and you do not clear it up, there is no one else to pick this up either. If we all do not take responsibility for our own rubbish, the estate will become overwhelmed with rubbish, and Chamonix will start charging all residents including those living in Housing Association properties for the clear up. To prevent this, we all need to BIN IT and clear up our rubbish especially if it has been attacked by foxes or not collected.
