SECTION 16526 - SPORTS FIELD LIGHTING PART 1 - GENERAL 1.1 A. A. Installer: A qualified installer. 1. B. Installer's responsibilities include fabricating and installing sports lighting systems.

Manufacturer Qualifications: Manufacturers shall be capable of providing engineering services, installation services, and maintenance services. Testing Agency Qualifications: An independent testing agency, accredited by NIST according to NIST HANDBOOK 150 under the National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program for "Energy Efficient Lighting Programs," to conduct indicated materials and field testing according to the following standards: 1. 2. 3. Special Warranty: Manufacturer's standard form in which manufacturer agrees to repair or replace components of equipment that fail in materials or workmanship within specified warranty period. Manufacturer may exclude lightning damage, hail damage, vandalism, abuse and unauthorized repairs and alterations from special warranty coverage. 1. Luminaire Warranty: Luminaire and luminaire assembly (excluding fuses and lamps) shall be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 5 years from date of Substantial Completion. 2. Lamp Warranty: a. Replace lamps and fuses that fail within 12 months from date of Substantial Completion. b. Provide replacement lamps and fuses that fail within the second 12 months from date of Substantial Completion. 3. Fixture Assembly Warranty: Mounting hardware and structural bracing for a period of 10 years from date of Substantial Completion. 4. Alignment Warranty: Aiming shall be warranted against movement from the pre-aimed position and for a period of 10 years from date of Substantial Completion. 5. Pole and Pole Bases Warranty: Lifetime warranty is required on all poles.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 A. LUMINAIRES Listed according to UL 1572 for installation in wet locations.

B. Doors, Frames, and Other Internal Access: Smooth operating, free from light leakage under operating conditions, and arranged to permit relamping without using tools. Arrange doors, frames, lenses, diffusers, and other pieces to prevent their accidental falling during relamping and when secured in operating position. Door shall be removable for cleaning or replacing lens. Exposed Hardware: Stainless-steel latches, fasteners, and hinges. SUPPORT STRUCTURES A. Comply with AASHTO LTS-3 for poles or other support structures, brackets, arms, appurtenances, base, anchorage, and foundation. Fixture assemblies shall consist of lamps, reflectors, lamp moguls, adjustable aiming/mounting devices, remote ballast enclosures, and galvanized steel crossarms that are pre-wired, pre-assembled, and pre-aimed based on computer design. All pole mounting hardware shall be included. Each mogul assembly shall be preset in the aimed position at the factory and marked, and shall allow for future field setting. Wind-Load Strength of Total Support Assembly: Adequate to carry support assembly plus luminaires without failure, permanent deflection, or whipping in steady winds of 90 mph with a gust factor of 1.3. Mountings, Fasteners, and Appurtenances: Corrosion resistant, compatible with support components, and shall not cause galvanic action at contact points. 1. 2. Foundation Design: Foundation design shall be the responsibility of the lighting manufacture. 1. Soil Conditions: The design criteria for the foundations shall be based on soil parameters as outlined in the geotechnical report. If a geotechnical report is not available one shall be provided by the owner.

LAMPS AND BALLASTS High-Pressure Metal Halide: Comply with ANSI C82.4 and be capable of starting at a temperature of minus 30 deg C. Lamps shall be available from multiple manufactures; systems requiring proprietary lamps will not be accepted.

PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 A. SUPPORT STRUCTURE INSTALLATION Use web fabric slings (not chain or cable) to raise and set structural members. 1. Except for embedded structural members, grout void between pole base and foundation. Use nonshrinking or expanding concrete grout firmly packed in entire void space. Use a short piece of 1/2-inch diameter pipe to make a drain hole through grout. Arrange to drain condensation from interior of pole.

FIELD QUALITY CONTROL Testing: Perform and record the following field quality-control testing according to IESNA RP-06-01, Appendix B: 1. After installing sports lighting system and after electrical circuitry has been energized, perform proof-of-performance field measurements for compliance with requirements.

Manufacturer's Field Service: Engage a factory-authorized service representative to inspect field-assembled components and equipment installation, including electrical connections. Report results in writing. Repair or replace malfunctioning units. Add luminaires if required to meet specified criteria, plus or minus 10 percent. If luminaires are added, recalculate and replace support structures, if indicated. Retest as specified above after repairs or replacements are made. Report results in writing. CLEANING
