Experiment-1 Aim: STUDY OF AUTOCAD SOFTWARE AutoCAD is a widely used application software for computer-aided design (CAD) and

drafting. The software supports both 2D and 3D formats. The software is developed and sold by Autodesk, Inc., The first version was released in December 1982 in the name of AutoCAD Version 1.0 and after releasing 19 no. of versions the current version is AutoCAD 2013 released on 2012, March 27. AutoCAD is accepted as the industry standard and a large community of CAD users in the world prefers it. Although AutoCAD is available for a variety of computer systems, majority of AutoCAD implementations are available on IBM or compatible personal computers with MSDOS operating system. AutoCAD comes with very large number of user-selectable options to support a great variety of commercially available display devices, digitizers, mouse, printers and plotters. AutoCAD supports 2D drafting and 3D modeling. AutoCAD is great for: A current standard method of preparing and sharing drawing. Accurate and flexible Legible and flexible in plot Electronic storage and easy communicable Reusable Drawing area is infinite which helps in drawing an object of any size. AutoCAD User Interface:

**While making drawing in AutoCAD take a scale of 1:1 or draw in actual dimensions

Experiment-2 Aim: To draw a simple 2D diagram using polar co ordinates. Software used: AutoCAD 2012 Procedure: 1. Set the limits of the screen to the required drawing sheet [A3 sheet set the limits (0,0) (420,297)]. 2. Command: limits Specify lower left corner : 0,0 Specify upper right corner: 1000,1000 3. Command: ZOOM Specify corner of window, enter a scale factor (nX or nXP), or [All/Center/Dynamic/Extents/Previous/Scale/Window] <real time>: a 4. Command: line Specify first point: <Ortho on> Specify next point or [Undo]: @300<0 Specify next point or [Undo]: @100<90 Specify next point or [Close/Undo]: @100<180 Specify next point or [Close/Undo]: @75<90 Specify next point or [Close/Undo]:close 5. Command: arc Specify start point of arc or [Center]:pick the point on mouse Specify second point of arc or [Center/End]: c Specify center point of arc: @50<180 Specify end point of arc or [Angle/chord Length]: Specify end point of arc or [Angle/chord Length]: 6. Command: line Specify first point: pick the point on mouse Specify next point or [Undo]: @75<270 Specify next point or [Undo]: @100<180 Specify next point or [Close/Undo]: @100<270 Specify next point or [Close/Undo]:close 7. Command: circle Specify center point for circle or [3P/2P/Ttr (tan tan radius)]: >> Resuming CIRCLE command. Specify center point for circle or [3P/2P/Ttr (tan tan radius)]: Specify radius of circle or [Diameter]: 25 8. Command: fillet Select first object or [Polyline/Radius/Trim/mUltiple]: r Specify fillet radius <0.0000>: 30 Select first object or [Polyline/Radius/Trim/mUltiple]:

Select second object: Command: fillet Select first object or [Polyline/Radius/Trim/mUltiple]: r Specify fillet radius <30.0000>: 30 Select first object or [Polyline/Radius/Trim/mUltiple]: Select second object: 9. Command: chamfer Select first line or [Polyline/Distance/Angle/Trim/Method/mUltiple]: a Specify chamfer length on the first line <0.0000>: 20 Specify chamfer angle from the first line <0>: 45 Select first line or [Polyline/Distance/Angle/Trim/Method/mUltiple]: Select second line: Command: CHAMFER Select first line or [Polyline/Distance/Angle/Trim/Method/mUltiple]: a Specify chamfer length on the first line <20.0000>: 20 Specify chamfer angle from the first line <45>: 45 Select first line or [Polyline/Distance/Angle/Trim/Method/mUltiple]: Select second line: Result : Thus the required simple 2D diagram was created using polar co-ordinates.

Experiment-3 Aim: STUDY OF SOLIDWORKS SOFTWARE SolidWorks is a 3D mechanical CAD (computer-aided design) program that runs on Microsoft Windows and is being developed by Dassault Systmes SolidWorks Corp. It released its first product, SolidWorks 95, in 1995 and released the SolidWorks 2013 on Sept, 2012. SolidWorks is a Parasolid-based solid modeler, and utilizes a parametric feature-based approach to create models and assemblies. Solidworks works by it user creating part in 3D or solid form. Three solidworks component is Part, Assembly and Drawing. Part define by it sketch and selected feature. Assembly is how all parts assemble in one unit; parts assemble by user adding mate between parts. Drawing is for detailing and adding dimensions to part. SolidWorks User Interface
