In some instances the suggested sequence is written for one associate to install and in others the sequence is given as part of a team accessory installation. Unless otherwise stated in the document, the associates may perform the installation steps in any order to make the installation as efficient as possible while maintaining consistent quality.

Care must be taken while installing this accessory to ensure damage does not occur to the vehicle. Use approved guidelines to insure a quality installation. These guidelines can be found in the Accessory Installation Practices document. A. Installation Preparation

1. Verify that the part is for the correct vehicle model and that it fits the vehicle properly. 2. During installation, the vehicle, the part, and the tape MUST be between 60 and 110 F for proper adhesion. Failure to maintain proper installation procedure may result in the part not functioning correctly. 3. Inspect the vehicle and parts for damage prior to installing the Body Side Molding.

i. Paint: Prepare part surfaces per Toyota paint standards. Do not use lacquer thinner or enamel reducer as a degreaser. 4. Make sure that all Body Side Molding installation surfaces are free of dirt and/or grease. (Fig. A1)

Use a clean, lint-free cloth and isopropyl alcohol-based cleaner.

1. From the bottom of the rear door, at the center door seam on the vehicle rocker, measure up 13.17" and mark vehicle with a grease pencil. (Fig. B1) 2. Along the bottom of the front door, measure 24 forward from the back edge of the door and mark vehicle with a grease pencil (Fig. B2) 3. From the bottom of the front door, perpendicular with the mark made in Step 2, measure up 12.69" and mark vehicle with a grease pencil. (Fig. B3)

4. Along the bottom of the rear door, measure 24 back from the front edge and mark vehicle with a grease pencil. (Fig. B4)

5. From the bottom of the rear door, perpendicular with the mark made in Step 4, measure up 13.60" and mark vehicle with a grease pencil. (Fig. B5) 6. Using marks made in Steps 1, 3 and 5, place magnetic straight edge under marks on vehicle. (Fig. B6) 7. Pull back ends of tape liner and bend to outside of part prior to installation. (Fig. B7) 8. Position Body Side Molding using magnetic straight edge applied in Step 6 as a guide (Fig. B8). Remove remaining tape liner and press into place.

9. Install Body Side Molding approximately 1/8" from front and rear door edge respectively. (Fig. B9) NOTE: Orientation of left side and right side pieces is critical. i. The front Body Side Molding piece is beveled on the top. (Fig. B10)

ii. The end of the rear Body Side Molding piece is angled parallel with the door seam. (Fig. B11) 10. Apply firm pressure with roller or presser to the taped areas for proper bond. Tape reaches maximum adhesive bond after 24 hours of contact. 11. Installation Complete. (Fig. B12)

Checklist: these points MUST be checked to insure a quality installation.

NOTE: Due to the inconsistency of factory sealant, it may be necessary to apply the bodyside molding over the clear door edge film protection.

Check:

Look For:
Molding should be straight No gap is allowed between the tape and the vehicle door surface Open and close both rear doors to ensure the molding does not rub or hit door frame.
