Every day and everywhere we go; there is what we call economics. It is very important to us and it affects our daily lives because as it is stated, economics is the study of the proper allocation, utilization and effective use of scarce resources to satisfy unlimited human wants. Tarlac State University organized a seminar of the 16th National Conference of CECON 2012 where in, it has a theme of mainstreaming the role of mass media, arts and sports in economic transformation. It challenges the students to become analytical with economic principle and actualize operations to eventually provide measures that will calm the economy to greater productivity. In this seminar, there were three speakers who explained the role of mass media, arts and sports in economic transformation; and they were Boy Abunda, Douglas Nierras, and Fr. Jayson David. Im very impressed on how Mr. Boy Abunda spoke and how he delivered to us the role of mass media in our economy. According to him, mass media is a communication in which for me, it helps the people to be informed on what was happening in our society, particularly in economy. I agree to him when he said that we must be true to ourselves and know our strengths and weaknesses. We must not also let other people push us down. Mr. Abunda or also called as Tito Boy believed that education is an investment for profit. As we all know, successful engineers, doctors, accountants and other professions were achieved because of education. We will not achieve our goals and dream in life if we will not focus our attentions to education and besides, education can help people to think better on how to improve our economy. However, about Douglas Nierras speech; frankly speaking, I didnt much understand it but I comprehend some. He said that he doesnt like social media because for him it influences our own culture by the other countries in which some Filipinos were not already supporting our own. According to him also, we must sustain the art in our culture because art is a talent where in, talent that can develop our economy. Finally, Father David gave a lot of marks on the role of sport in economy. Sport is all forms of competitive physical activity, which through casual or organizes participation, aim to use, maintain or improve physical ability and provide entertainment to participants. Athletes or just for example Manny Pacquiao, gain a lot of money and at the same he entertains many people

and gives pride to his nation. For me, sport can teach us on how to become capable of doing things by becoming physically fit and I guess competing to other countries is one thing to have a satisfaction that in return our economy turn out to be better. At this time, I have known the mainstreaming role of mass media, art and culture in economic transformation. I realized that we must be loyal on our own nation and be discipline. Know our strengths and boost them. Know our weaknesses and face them. Being aware of what was happening to our society, improving our talents, supporting our own culture and paying attention to education, for me, are the ways to become prepare on handling actual economic cases in real time and environment.
