And then, after another chanc e meeting, I invited her to a made up party to make to seem like it is casual an d not a big deal...but it was a big deal for me.She didn t show up.She didn t show u p again. //// When you live in the city......the odds of bumping into the one other are incred ibly high. The odds of bumping into her when you look like shit are even higher. The city b ecomes a deserted battlefield loaded with emotional land mines. You have to be v ery careful where you step or you could be blown to pieces. /// I ran into my friend on the street the other day. He was hurt and hysterical. He 'd just broken up with another girl. I said I thought everything was fine. Then h e said that s when they tiptoe up and clobber you.
