INTRODUCTION

B TI stands for Bang$adesh tandards and Testing Institution. It is emerged in %&'( through an ordinance )Ordinance ***+II, !ith the merger of Bang$adesh tandards Institution and the Centra$ Testing $a-oratory. .ight no! B TI is the on$y nationa$ standards -ody of Bang$adesh /$aying #ita$ ro$e in de#e$o/ing and /romoting standards of 0ua$ities and dimensions.

COURSE MANAGEMENT
An orientation course of %1 days duration !as arranged for the ne!$y a//ointed %1 em/$oyees so that they can get an o#era$$ idea a-out #arious functions and /rocedures of different ty/es of acti#ities of a$$ the !ings of B TI. The ne!$y a//ointed officers !ere di#ided into t!o grou/s. The course !as started !ith a -riefing session on No#em-er %%2 311& and !as ended !ith an ending session on No#em-er 342 311&. 5uring these %1 days e#ery grou/ s/ent t!o days in a !ing. On No#em-er %%2 311& a -riefing session !as ta6en in the counci$ meeting room of the Administration room. In the a-sence of 5irector genera$ of B TI2 Md. FOUNDATION OF BSTI
The esta-$ishment of B TI started !ith the creation of Centra$ Testing La-oratory )CTL, in 5ha6a in %&(:. Cham-ers of commerce and industries /$ayed the 6ey res/onsi-i$ity for the esta-$ishment. In %&:; 5ha6a office of the tandards Institution !as esta-$ished2 !hich $ater -ecome the head0uarter of the Bang$adesh tandards Institution in %&<%. Bang$adesh tandards and Testing Institution came into -eing in %&'( through an ordinance )Ordinance ***+II of %&'(, !ith the merger of Bang$adesh tandards Institution and the Centra$ Testing La-oratories. Later on2 in %&&( 5e/artment of Agricu$ture "rading and Mar6eting a$so merged !ith B TI. The B TI is a -ody cor/orate and its concerned ministry is the Ministry of Industries.

FUNCTIONS OF BSTI

The functions of the institute are=

To set u/ Bang$adesh tandards of 0ua$ity and dimensions and /re/are and /romote the genera$ ado/tion of standards on nationa$ and internationa$ -asis re$ating to materia$s2 commodities2 structures2 /ractices and o/erations and2 from time to time2 to !ithdra!2 re#ise2 a$ter and amend the same. To consider and recommend to the "o#ernment Bang$adesh tandards for the measurement of $ength2 !eight mass2 #o$ume2 and2 energy.

To /romote standardi8ation2 0ua$ity contro$2 metro$ogy and sim/$ification in industry and commerce. BANGLADESH ACCREDITATION BOARD Accreditation is a system of su/er#ision of conformity assessment. Accreditations reduce ris6 for go#ernment2 -usiness and customers -y ensuring though regu$ar sur#ei$$ance that certification E registration -odies are -oth inde/endent and com/etent. Accredited certificate may -e re$ied u/on any!here in the !or$d. It is #ery much essentia$ to accredited our testing $a-oratories so that the testing resu$tsE data of our testing $a-oratories is acce/ted e#ery!here.
