Introduction Patient DD is a 24 year old female who was admitted at the Batangas Medical Center, last August 31,

2013 due to vaginal bleeding the patient was diagnosed with G2P0 (0010) ectopic pregnancy(ovarian pregnancy) 7weeks and 4 days Age of Gestation. The patient underwent Exploratory Laparotomy Evacuation of Hemoperitoneum wedge resection of right ovary, ovarian pregnancy right. Last August 31, 2013 in the afternoon and then we gather our data by primary and secondary sources. An ectopic pregnancy, or eccysis, is a complication of pregnancy in which the embryo implants outside the uterine cavity.[1] With rare exceptions, ectopic pregnancies are not viable. Furthermore, they are dangerous for the mother, since internal hemorrhage is a life-threatening complication. Most ectopic pregnancies occur in the Fallopian tube (so-called tubal pregnancies), but implantation can also occur in the cervix, ovaries, and abdomen. An ectopic pregnancy is a potential medical emergency, and, if not treated properly, can lead to death. In a normal pregnancy, the fertilized egg enters the uterus and settles into the uterine lining where it has plenty of room to divide and grow. About 1% of pregnancies are in an ectopic location with implantation not occurring inside of the womb, and of these 98% occur in the Fallopian tubes. Detection of ectopic pregnancy in early gestation has been achieved mainly due to enhanced diagnostic capability. Despite all these notable successes in diagnostics and detection techniques ectopic pregnancy remains a source of serious maternal morbidity and mortality worldwide, especially in countries with poor prenatal care.

Description of Health Condition An ectopic pregnancy is commonly referred to as a tubal pregnancy because 95 percent occur in a fallopian tube. An ectopic pregnancy needs to be treated immediately to avoid fallopian tube damage or life threatening blood loss. When identified early, ectopic pregnancies are treatable with medication that stops the pregnancy. If the pregnancy is further along, laparoscopy is usually performed to remove the ectopic tissue and repair the fallopian tube. Currently, laparotomy is the preferred technique when the patient is hemodynamically unstable, the surgeon has not been trained in laparoscopy, physical facilities and supplies to perform laparoscopic surgery are lacking or technical barriers to laparoscopy are present. If the ectopic pregnancy has ruptured or bleeding persists, salpingectomy is a very common option. This procedure involves excision of segment of the Fallopian tube involved in the ectopic pregnancy. The tubal segment to be removed is coagulated and cut off with bipolar forceps.

Statistical data An ectopic pregnancy occurs when the baby starts to develop outside the womb (uterus). The most common site for an ectopic pregnancy is within one of the tubes through which the egg passes from the ovary to the uterus (fallopian tube). However, in rare cases, ectopic pregnancies can occur in the ovary, stomach area, or cervix. In the developed world, Ectopic Pregnancy occurs in about 1 in 250 pregnancies amounting to approximately 70 000 cases annually, 5,833 per month, 1,346 per week, 191 per day, 7 per hour. In the Philippines, unpublished reports have estimated the incidence to be just about 22, 194 each year.

Scope and Limitation This case presentation involves patient who was diagnosed with G2P0 (0010) ectopic pregnancy (ovarian pregnancy) 7weeks and 4 days Age of Gestation. Data was gathered through an interview with the patient, conducted on September 2, 2013 when the students are having their clinical experience at the Gynecological Ward at Batangas Medical Center. Contents of this include everything about the patient and these are as follows: Patients history and background Assessment of patient Anatomy and Physiology and Pathophysiology Nursing and medical management (pre and post- operative) Discharge plans, referrals and evaluation of study

Background of the Study: The study was held at Batangas Medical Center last September 2, 2013 during the clinical experience of the researchers at the gynecological ward. The reason why the researchers chose this study is because it is one of the most common causes of pregnancy complication in woman in the Philippines. The client was chosen because the client was able to manifest the sign and symptoms of Ectopic pregnancy and also the treatment that is necessary for a person having this disease. The purpose of the study is to know more about Ectopic pregnancy. The researchers chose this study to improve our knowledge regarding the disease and the proper management that is to be done and also discuss health teaching for the patient to know more regarding the disease.

Objectives: The following are the objectives of this study: To assess the patients overall status. To obtain necessary information regarding the patients health condition. To identify the patients health care needs through analysis of all data gathered. To assist the patients throughout rehabilitation, recovery, and discharge. To perform appropriate nursing care in conjunction with the condition of the patient. To impact necessary health teaching to the patient. To widen and enhance the researchers knowledge and skills through additional research about the nature of the disease, its signs and symptom, pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment.
