INTRODUO

O projeto Game On toma como ponto de partida para a abordagem metodolgica dos contedos programticos dois pontos essenciais referidos no Currculo Nacional do Ensino Bsico, aquando da descrio das Competncias gerais para o 2.o ciclo: a necessidade de estabelecer uma relao afetiva com a lngua estrangeira e a
necessidade de encontrar projetos significativos e formas de trabalho que mobilizem de modo produtivo a energia e o interesse dos aprendentes.
Assim, e dando primazia apresentao, desenvolvimento e prtica dos contedos, no intuito de levar os alunos ao nvel A1.2 preconizado nas Metas de Aprendizagem para o 2.o ciclo, no remetemos para um segundo plano
a questo da forma, isto , a apresentao grfica. Neste projecto quisemos encontrar um compromisso necessrio entre a forma e o contedo de modo a criar a referida relao afetiva com a lngua estrangeira.
Neste sentido, o projeto Game On foi construdo tendo como base o universo dos jogos de computador, pretendendo, com isso, aproximar-se mais dos gostos e da realidade dos alunos, atravs de um contexto que lhes
to familiar. O manual adquire, desta forma, toda uma nova nomenclatura e dinamismo: as unidades so apelidadas de Games, e as subunidades de Levels estando o manual dividido em trs Games, cada um com trs Levels,
estruturados de forma idntica e permitindo desenvolver em cada um deles todas as competncias especficas
da disciplina.
Como em qualquer jogo, no final de cada Level o aluno ter de provar que est apto a passar para o nvel
seguinte, completando um teste onde precisa de alcanar determinada pontuao, o que lhe permitir fazer a
sua autoavaliao.
Novamente citando as Competncias Gerais referidas no Currculo Nacional do Ensino Bsico, procurmos
uma forma eficaz de usar de forma integrada e no sentido da eficcia dos atos comunicativos, linguagens diversas: imagens, gestos, mmica, sons, elementos paratextuais.
Assim, os vrios componentes que integram este projeto pretendem responder a uma ampla formao nos
domnios da compreenso, interao, produo oral e produo escrita, aliadas a uma componente ldica e
comunicativa.

O Manual, em duas verses diferenciadas para o aluno e para o professor. A verso do professor contm
notas com as solues dos exerccios, remisses para outros materiais disponveis e sugestes de atividades
ldicas pertinentes.

O Workbook, que permite praticar a compreenso escrita, o vocabulrio e a gramtica de cada Level.
Fornece ainda um teste formativo a que os alunos podero recorrer se no tiverem passado de Level na
ficha de autoavaliao pedida no fim de cada subunidade.

O Gamebook (oferta ao aluno), onde se desenvolvem atividades ldicas, sobretudo de vocabulrio, e que se
destina sobretudo a activar pr-requisitos necessrios aprendizagem de novos contedos. Contm tambm atividades similares para descobrir mais sobre algumas festividades tradicionais em pases de expresso inglesa.

A Leitura Extensiva (oferta ao aluno), integrada no mesmo livro do Gamebook, e que conta uma histria
divertida, com vocabulrio e estruturas adequadas aos alunos e que explorada de forma gradual e faseada, de forma a que a leitura v sendo acompanhada e guiada pelo professor.

Componentes multimdia

O projeto Game On est associado a uma componente multimdia a que poder aceder atravs da plataforma Aula Digital. Nessa plataforma, o professor encontra todos os materiais multimdia organizados de
acordo com o ndice do manual, com os diversos recursos disponveis associados a cada Game e respetivo Level,
abrangendo os contedos abordados.
Em cada uma das unidades, so disponibilizadas ilustraes animadas dos textos, complementadas com
atividades de interpretao de texto. Desta forma, possivel desenvolver a compreenso oral e escrita, e explorar
vocabulrio e gramtica.
Para alm das animaes com atividades, os jogos interativos so outra componente que conjuga as vertentes
ldica e didtica. Estes jogos podem tornar a aprendizagem mais apelativa e so contextualizados com as personagens
e temas abordados, havendo desta forma uma personalizao e identificao com o projeto. Vrias canes interativas podero proporcionar uma aprendizagem colaborativa, permitindo o envolvimento das turmas na sua totalidade,
atravs do formato karaoke adotado.
O professor ter tambm disponveis flashcards digitais que conjugam imagem, udio e texto escrito, com
possibilidade de impresso. Deste modo, poder escolher a opo que melhor se adeque s estratgias pedaggicas em contexto de sala de aula.
Para alm disso, esto tambm disposio outros recursos de apoio, como o relgio interativo (em formato
analgico e digital) e os mapas interativos do Reino Unido e do Mundo, com especial destaque para pases de
expresso e lngua inglesa. Estes mapas permitem explorar imagens de locais e monumentos de referncia, bem
como abordar alguns aspetos culturais mais significativos.
Para cada uma das unidades, pode ainda encontrar apresentaes em PowerPoint, com sistematizao de
vocabulrio e aspetos gramaticais e dois testes interativos por cada Level, um para o aluno e um para o professor, perfazendo um total de seis testes por cada Game. Para alm dos testes pr-definidos, ter, igualmente, a
possibilidade de criar testes personalizados a partir de um banco com mais de 100 questes disponveis.
A componente multimdia possibilita tambm a consulta de sites na Internet, diretamente associados aos
diversos contedos do manual.
Finalmente, sero disponibilizados, em formato editvel, os Planos de Aula criados especificamente para o
projeto.

Guia de explorao dos flashcards


O projeto Game On apresenta, como componente auxiliar, um conjunto de flashcards e cartes verbais
impressos. Este material multifuncional, j que pode ser utilizado na prtica de diversos contedos. No manual
do professor, encontrar-se-o indicaes de quando e como utilizar os flashcards, sempre que tal seja possvel e
pertinente, assim como no livro de planos de aula. No entanto, a funcionalidade destes flashcards e cartes verbais no se esgota nas sugestes apresentadas, ja que poder utiliz-los em outros contextos e de outros modos.
Este material foi concebido para promover atividades comunicativas e de carter mais ldico, para permitir

Sugestes para os Mini Projects


Os Mini Projects, sugeridos no final de cada Level do manual, so propostas de pequenos trabalhos de projeto
que permitem trabalhar aspetos culturais, bem como contedos lexicais a eles associados. Estes trabalhos partem sempre de aspetos da cultura de pases de lngua e expresso inglesa, abordados no Level ou na pgina de
Project, e pretende-se que sejam transportados depois para a cultura e hbitos do pas de origem de cada aluno.
O professor escolher quais os mais pertinentes, tendo em conta a altura do ano letivo em que os quer trabalhar
e a especificidade de cada turma.
O Mini Project da ltima unidade (Game 3 Level 3 ) pretende ser um projeto multidisciplinar mais abrangente, que requerer alguma preparao prvia e o envolvimento de mais elementos da comunidade escolar.
Todos os Mini Projects foram pensados para poderem ser trabalhados por alunos de outras nacionalidades,

Leitura Extensiva:
The Strange London Visitors
No Programa e Organizao Curricular do Ministrio da Educao para o 2.o ciclo do Ensino Bsico, prev-se,
como um dos objetivos a alcanar, criar o gosto pela leitura extensiva em lngua inglesa (pg. 9). O mesmo
documento refere que a aprendizagem dos alunos ser tanto mais significativa, quanto mais os contedos se
relacionarem diretamente com as suas vivncias e interesses (pg. 40).
Baseando-nos nestas premissas, apresentamos uma proposta de leitura extensiva que se pretende apelativa e
interessante, a nvel do enredo em si, e adequada e nivelada, a nvel das competncias especficas que interagem
na aquisio da chamada competncia comunicativa: as competncias lingustica, discursiva, estratgica,
sociolingustica, intercultural e de processo.

A histria
Assim, a histria intitula-se The Strange London Visitors e descreve uma aventura de trs jovens na cidade
de Londres. Um rapaz, de nome Adam, recebe o seu primo escocs, Callum, e a sua prima americana, Jennifer,
em sua casa, em Londres, para duas semanas de frias.
Passando por situaes do dia a dia que nos fazem viajar pela cultura britnica e pela cidade de Londres e
seus locais de referncia, acompanhamos os trs primos numa perseguio a dois estranhos pela cidade, que terminar no museu de cera de Madame Tussauds onde os trs jovens descobrem que os estranhos so, afinal,
duas celebridades disfaradas em frias na capital britnica.

A explorao didtica
A histria tem aproximadamente 3000 palavras e est dividida em cinco captulos. O trabalho de compreenso e interpretao do texto feito de forma gradual: a seguir a cada captulo apresentam-se duas a trs atividades sobre esse mesmo captulo, assegurando-se que o aluno no avana na histria sem ter compreendido os
factos anteriores.
Apresenta-se, de seguida, um resumo da narrativa, bem como os contedos programticos tidos como pr-requisitos para uma boa leitura.

CAPTULO 1
A histria inicia-se com a chegada de Callum e Jennifer ao aeroporto de Londres, onde iro encontrar-se com
os tios e com o primo, Adam, que os esperam para passarem duas semanas de frias. Ainda no aeroporto, conversam sobre as notas do ltimo ano letivo e sobre as disciplinas preferidas de cada um

CAPTULO 2
No dia seguinte, as personagens esto j instaladas em casa e decidem dar um passeio pela cidade depois de

CAPTULO 3
Os trs jovens dirigem-se ao Hotel Ritz onde combinaram tomar o tradicional ch das cinco com os pais de
Adam. Enquanto lancham, conversam sobre Londres e sobre os seus gostos pessoais e preferncias culturais.

CAPTULO 4
Os trs jovens reparam num casal estranho sentado numa outra mesa. Ambos parecem estar a esconder-se.
Tm gorros, casacos, culos escuros e uma aparncia suspeita. Os amigos comentam a situao.
O casal apercebe-se e sai do hotel, escondendo o rosto. Os trs amigos ficam intrigados e reparam que o casal
se esqueceu de uma pulseira de ouro na cadeira.
Decidem ento ir atrs deles no intuito de devolver a pulseira, mas o par foge para o metro. Os jovens decidem
segui-los e entram tambm no metro.

CAPTULO 5
O estranho casal sai na estao de Baker Street e dirige-se ao museu de cera Madame Tussauds, sempre

representadas. De repente, enquanto tiram fotografias junto a dois dos seus dolos retratados em cera, os trs
jovens apanham um grande susto quando essas mesmas figuras se mexem. Sob o olhar surpreendido das crianas, descobre-se que os dois estranhos que seguiam eram, afinal, duas celebridades (Zac Efron e Vanessa
Hudgens) que queriam visitar a cidade sem serem reconhecidos. Os amigos ficam muito entusiasmados, pois so
fs de ambos. A histria termina com todos os intervenientes da cena a rir.
