Clutlon: Prior to canylng out anr maintenance or 1atlng on a ftre alarm srstam.
OVer time, 1he sensltlvHy of asmoke de1ector can change owing to abulld-up of dirt
In1hede1ector chamber. Inmost modem detectors this effect Isslowed by the lncfuslon
of drift compensation functions, however 1he build up can stIll lead10 a risk of false alarms or
change In1he de1ector sensltlvHy.
The frequency of maln1enance requirements on adetector wlll depend on site condHlons,
obviously the dirtier the sHe the more frequen1 maln1enance wfll be required. Tiie optimum
frequency for a given sHe should be determined over a period of time after the
commissioning of 1he11re system.
All System Sensor detectors (smoke, heat, or muHi-criteria) are designed such that they
can be easily dismantled for main1enanc:e. Instructions are given for rnain1enance in1he
instruction manual supplied with each detector. Normally it issufficient1o use compressed
air or avacuum cleaner to remove dust from 1he detector chamber.
Once maintenance on afire detection system has been completed, itshould be re-tested.

300 Series detectors can be used inconjunction with the S300RPTU remote hand-held programming unit to gain access b> many advanced features incfuding: read/write last maintenance date; read
chamber contamination level; read value of the smoke or thermal element and perform an alarm test. Each unit can be programmed with a unique address. When used inconjunction with the
S300ZDU and acompatible control this address will be displayed on the S300ZDU whenever the detector is in alarm.
All the features \lfa the hand-held programming unit are achieved el'fectlvely and effortlessly without the needto remove the detector or having to gain direct physIcal access (other than
by the use of 'No Climb Products' or similar servicing tool), saving valuable commissioning I maintenance dme. They provide an end user with the conftdence to know that the nresystem

System Sensor's Vision range of detectors is a range of conventional detectors, which have bean produced usingthe latest in manufacturing technology and supplied with an amry of advanced
features, making them 'better by design'.
A laser-based hand held Remote Test Unit can be used InconJunctlon with Vision detectors for alann test purposes. The unit transmits acoded message, preventing spurious alarms being
generated by other laser-based devices. With a range of several metres, the hand held test unit provides an effortless way of remotely alann testing the range of Vision detectors and removes the
needfor any direct physical access to the detector by the user.
