Appliqud Fruit Towels
Using fabric scraps and iron-on adhesive, its simple to decorate
your kitchen with these appliqu-look towels. Choose fabric
shades that coordinate with your existing decor.

Instructions
1. On paper side of iron-on adhe-
sive, draw three 4-inch x 6-inch
rectangles for appliqu backgrounds.
Referring to patterns, trace fruit shapes
onto paper side of remaining adhesive:
one pear and one apple; three pear
leaves and three apple leaves, revers-
ing one of each; two grape leaves,
reversing one; three stems; 10 large,
seven medium and six small grapes.
2. Following manufacturers instruc-
tions, fuse adhesive to wrong side of
fabrics, cutting shapes apart outside
traced lines as needed: Fuse rectangles
onto tan-and-cream print; fuse pear
onto gold and apple onto red; fuse one
pear leaf and reversed pear leaf, one
apple leaf and reversed apple leaf, and
one grape leaf onto light green; fuse
remaining leaves onto dark green; fuse
stems onto brown; fuse grapes onto
assorted purples.
3. Cut out rectangles on traced lines;
remove backing and fuse one to short
end of each towel 2 inches from
bottom edge.
4. Cut out fruit motifs and leaves
on traced lines. Referring to photo,
arrange fruit and their leaves on rect-
angles. Note that some leaves overlap
edges of background print. Grapes are
randomly overlapped and stacked to
form a cluster. When satised with
placement, fuse appliqus in place.
5. Measure across bottom of towel;
add inch, and cut three pieces of
ecru trim to that measurement. Fold
each end under inch; glue in place.
Apply a thin line of glue across top of
trim on right side. Lay bottom edge
of towel over top of trim and press to
secure trim to towel edge.
