CHILDRENS HOLIDAY COOKIE BAKING CONTEST RULES

Event: What is the Contest: Childrens Cookie Baking Contest on Thursday, December 19, 2013 6:00pm-8:00pm. The Childrens Cookie Baking Contest is designed to encourage & inspire children ranging in ages from toddler to teen to be creative, demonstrate their skills, be involved in the community & continue on with family traditions or start new ones thru the joy of baking during the holidays. Children of all abilities between the ages of 2 thru 19. Ages: 2-5 Ages: 6-9 Ages: 10-14 Ages: 15-19 Best Overall

Who Can Enter: 5 Categories:

For the 2-5 age category, the caregivers will do the majority of the work, but the children must participate in helping to pour, mix and decorate. For all other categories, caregivers can assist for safety but the children must do the majority of the work. The Judging Panel: Kelly Walter, Library Director of Herr Memorial Library Krista Emery, Professional Pastry Chef & Baker Ashley Wetzel, S.U.N Area Dairy Princess Kylie Kuhns of Kelseys Dream Santa Claus Cookies will be judged on flavor, texture, creativity & presentation for each category. Must be pre-registered & complete & return the attached Entry Form at drop off. This form must be taped to the top of the cookie plate for identification at drop off. Entries without a completed waiver cannot be entered in the contest. Please provide 1 dozen freshly baked cookies. Recipes can be from scratch or semi-homemade. The recipes can be a traditional family recipe original creation or from a cookbook or on-line source. All cookie entries must be accompanied by a recipe that can be typed or hand written. Winning recipes will be posted on our facebook page & displayed in the lobby of the library. Recipes should include name of cookie, serving size, list of ingredients and directions. Place recipe under Entry Form on top of dish. Drop Off Times: Thursday, December 19, 2013 11:00am-6:00pm at the Circulation Desk of Herr. Cookies are to be dropped off on paper plates or aluminum foil covered card board. *All cookies must be dropped off and COVERED completely with aluminum foil to conceal cookies. ENTRY FORM MUST be taped to the top of the foil covered cookies. The recipe is to be placed UNDER the Entry Form. They can be stapled or paper clipped together. Prizes: All entrants will receive a goodie bag to include a kids cookbook from Weis Markets. Each of the 4 categories will have a first, second and third place winner. The fifth category will be the best overall and will be selected out of the 4 first place winners. Each first place winner will receive a ribbon certificate, prize, and have his or her winning recipe publicly posted on our website, lobby area and facebook page. Second & third place winners will receive a ribbon certificate.

Your To Do Checklist: Pre-Register Via Phone, In-Person Or E-Mail Prior To Event. Complete Entry Form To Include Caregiver Signature. Provide Typed or Handwritten Winning Recipe. Prepare 1 Dozen Freshly Baked Cookies Covered with Aluminum Foil. Attach Recipe & Entry Form To Top Of Covered Dish. Deliver Cookies to The Circulation Desk at Herr Memorial Library Located At 500 Market Street, Mifflinburg, PA 17844.
