Since we know exactly the geometrie and the materials of our LEDs we can simulate the thermal behaviour under certain boundary conditions. To simulate the LED in the system, we need a detailed description of the mechanical setup and the materials of the system as well.

With the first prototype a verification of the proper thermal management is possible and necessary. We can provide you assistance by measuring the prototype and determining the junction temperature, which is necessary for light output, reliability and lifetime.

There are many different LED systems and setups and each might need a different way to drive the LED regarding the size of the LED, the space and the cost of the solution. We can make a proposal for the basic electrical driving circuitries tailored to the need of the application.

If there are doubts in the electrical design especially if a resistive driving solution has been chosen, we have the capability to verify by electrical simulation that the currents do not exceed the specification of the LED component.

Sometimes the available standard lenses or reflectors are not suitable for some applications and there is the need for customized optics design. We can provide the CAD files of tailored optics.
Either street lighting or the illumination of the working table, both are illumination scenarios that can be simulated to ensure certain illuminance and homogeneity requirements.

- Large distance caused by lens - Poor coupling efficiency -LED with narrow beam Angle or Reflektor needed - Long hot spot for Narrow beam + Guide surface is easy to polish
Latin America | Page 26
OS SSL | II
+ Good coupling efficiency + Small Distance to guide + Slight hot spots + Guide surface is easy to polish + robust system, no push directly on lens
+ Good coupling efficiency - Hole in light guide (tooling costs) - Long hot spot - High requirements on tolerances of system
+ Good coupling efficiency - Hole in light guide (tooling costs) + Slight hot spots + wide incidence angle + robust system, no push directly on lens
Evonik material (PLEXIGLAS(R) EndLighten T) for edge-lit / (No Tooling cost nacessary)
Non Light output
Clear PLEXIGLAS conducts light by means of total internal reflection. Light rays remain inside the sheet and only exit via the edges PLEXIGLAS EndLighten T Light output Diffuser particles
Reflector
The diffuser particles embedded in PLEXIGLAS EndLighten T deflect light rays and suppress total internal reflection. Light rays can exit the sheet via the surfaces too.

Mesopic vision
Mesopic factor:
During nighttime the human eye percepts neither photopic nor scotopic brightness. The area in between is called mesopic. The mesopic factor describes the percepted brightness at a given surrounding luminance. For street lighting conditions we assume 0,3cd/m.
S/P-Ratio:
Scotopic weighted radiation spectrum V() divided by photopic weighted radiation spectrum V().
