remedies.

(c) Explain in which situations the eye protection equipments goggles, shields and

(b) Explain what is meant by arc-blow in manual metal arc welding process.

1. Write an essay on characteristics of goove and fillet welds. [16]

2. (a) Write a short notes on ‘Weld throat thickness’.


(b) A 12 cm diameter solid shaft is Joined by 2 cm fillet weld to a Flat plate. De-
termine the maximum torque that the welded Joint can sustain if the permis-
sible shear stress intensity in the weld material is not to exceed 1000 kg/cm2 .
(Assume any missing data). [7+9]
