Protecti.e tapes and other 6aterials brought to site shall be as per specification+ &anufacturer7s test certificates shall be sub6itted for re.ie, prior to use+ The pri6er shall be type 8 as specified in 44 C122/+ Field and laboratory test shall be carried out for each batch of pri6er 9 tape+ Pri6er and tape shall be supplied by the sa6e 6anufacturer+

SUR ACE PREPARATION:

Prior to blast cleaning- all oil- grease on the pipe surface shall be thoroughly re6o.ed by flushing ,ith suitable sol.ent as per ''PC 'P11 and ,iping ,ith clean tags+ )egreased pipe 6etal surface shall be shot:grit blast cleaned to ''PC1'P112 or 'a 2; of 'I'12<1<322+ This cleaning operation shall be follo,ed i66ediately ,ith pri6ing by spraying : brush+

PRIMING: I66ediately after girt blasting the surface shall be applied ,ith fast drying un6odified pure chlorinated rubber based coal tar synthetic pri6er+ 'econd coat of pri6er to be applied before application of coal tar ena6el+ The entire surface of pipe should be pri6ed+ !o specific ti6e gap bet,een t,o coats of pri6er needs to be 6aintained but after the second coat of pri6er- the ena6el coating should before the pri6er is co6pletely hardened+ $.#. PREPARATION O COATING MATERIAL: The 6etal dru6s that shall be cropped or cut on suitable platfor6 to pre.ent the ena6el co6ing in contact ,ith ,ooden cinders- grass and other for6s of conta6ination+ The ena6el shall be confir6ed to Type1I or Type1II coal tar ena6el as per 44 C122/+ The cropped out pieces if ena6el 6ay not 4ight 6ore then 12 ?gs+ The bro?en pieces shall be placed in a clean 6elting ?ettle ,hich is 6ade of hea.y duty- &' sheet in for6 of closed .essel+ To 6aintain unifor6 co.erage of 6aterial re=uired =uantity of ena6el is heated in the ?ettle ,ith te6perature range of 2/22C to 2@22C+ Te6perature of ena6el can be chec?ed by dipping ther6o6eter in the ena6el+ Ther6o6eter shall be used in heating ?ettle in a such ,ay so as read the te6perature clearly+ The ther6o6eter shall ha.e te6perature range up to /222C+

The pipe shall be ?ept rotating on a 6achine ha.ing circu6ferential and linear 6otions,hile the pipes are in rotating condition- pour the hot cold ena6el 6anually and spread unifor6ly ,ith the help of rubber brushes+

'i6ultaneously- one ,rap of glass fibre tissue ha.ing properties as stated in *acobs specification shall be applied o.er the 6olten coal tar ena6el+ Initially- the ,rap is held ,ith hand and pressed o.er the 6olten ena6el+ There after the re.ol.ing pipe puffs the fiber ,arp fro6 the reel- ,hich ensures continuous ,rapping o.er the 6olten ena6el ,ith re=uired o.erlap Ai+e+ 1/ 66B+

'econd coat of coal tar ena6el as ,ell as glass fiber tissue paper shall be applied as per abo.e procedure+ Third coat of 6olten coal tar ena6el shall be applied neCt+ Final outer ,rap of i6pregnated fibre felt shall be applied i66ediately o.er third coat of coal tar ena6el- si6ilar to inner ,rap application+ The o.erlap at edges of all ,rappings should be 6ini6u6 1/ 66+ the coating shall be continuous for the full length of the pipe eCcept 222 66 at both ends of the pipes+ Finally- carry out ,hit ,ash ,ith crylic ,ater e6ulsion LateC Paint &aterial+ This application ,ill be carried out 6anually by paintbrushes+ There after the pipes is lifted by suitable 6ethods and allo,ed to dry on ,ooden sleepers+
