Edit the /etc/sysctl.conf file to configure your kernel settings to the minimum values shown below. After editing the file, use the "sysctl -p" command or restart the system to invoke the new settings. Note: If the current value for any parameter is higher than the value listed in the following table, then do not change the value of that parameter. The following table lists the kernel settings for Oracle Linux 4, 5 and 6, Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS/ES 4, 5, and 6 and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9, 10 and 11: Parameter kernel.semmsl kernel.semmns kernel.semopm kernel.semmni Value 2561 320001 1001 1421

On SUSE Linux Enterprise Server version 10 and 11, ensure that you set the following kernel parameter to the gid of the group used as the dba group. For example, on a system using a group named dba with the dba:!:104:oracle entry in the /etc/group file, the hugetlb_shm_group kernel parameter should be set to the following value:

Two Domain Name System (DNS) resolver parameters (timeout and attempts) are set by default to low values when the operating system is installed. Be fore InstallingorUpgrading
If the Release 12.1.1 installation or upgrade is performed with the Rapid Install wizard (either a new R12 installation or upgrade from 11i to R12), ensure you have the latest Rapid Install patch as described in Oracle Applications Release Notes, Release 12.1.1 (My Oracle Support Document 798258.1) before you begin your installation or upgrade. Complete all operating system requirements, software requirements, and other requirements before installing or upgrading Oracle E-Business Suite.

Upgrade Oracle Database andOracle ApplicationSe rv e r(Oracle Linux6,RHEL6andSLES11 only)

Customers who are cloning to the above operating systems must first upgrade the Oracle Database to 11gR2 (11.2.0.3 or higher) and Oracle Application Server 10gR3 to 10.1.3.5 on the source 12.1.1 system using the respective documents: Interoperability Notes Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 with Oracle Database 11g Release 2 (11.2.0) (My Oracle Support Note 1058763.1) Upgrading to the Latest OracleAS 10g 10.1.3.x Patch Set in Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 (My Oracle Support Note 454811.1) Customers who are installing the E-Business Suite on these operating systems using Rapid Install must upgrade these technology components after the installation of EBS 12.1.

OPM Nportconflict
Attention: By default, the OPMN service of the Application Server technology stack listens on port 6000 when started up during Rapid Install. This can conflict with the X11 port used for the graphics console on Linux servers and prevent Rapid Install from completing.

To address this issue, perform the following steps before installing or upgrading: Check if the port 6000 is being used ("netstat -a | grep 6000") If so, you should disable the graphics console login process on the Linux server. This can be accomplished by logging in as root and issuing the following commands: Find the process that uses port 6000 by the command "lsof -i TCP:6000". Use "kill -9" to abort the process found in the previous step Confirm that nothing is listening at port 6000 ("netstat -a | grep 6000") Modify /etc/inittab by changing "id:5:initdefault:" to "id:3:initdefault:" Run "/sbin/init 3" to restart dtlogin

Perform the following steps after installing or upgrading to Release 12.1.1 and before allowing users to access the system.

PatchAS10g(10.1.2and10.1.3)Oracle Home s(Oracle Linux6andRHEL6only)

After installation, users must update the stub libraries in the 10.1.2 and 10.1.3 Oracle Homes by installing the patch 12415211. Users must specifically copy the files in the patch to the specified directories as follows for the 10.1.2 Oracle Home:

After this is done and sourcing the APPS<CONTEXT_NAME>.env file, users should relink all 10.1.2 executables by running the $ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/clone/adlnktools.sh script and ensuring that there are now no errors in the make log file output from the script. The instructions for the 10.1.3 Oracle Home are:

For older versions of the startCD prior to the current version 12.1.1.13 (see Oracle Applications Release Notes, Release 12.1.1 My Oracle Support Document 798258.1), you must run the following sql commands to fix a particular corrupted dbf file if installing the production (PROD) database:

During the relink phase of the installation of EBS Release 12 (12.1.1) on the above operating systems, failures will result while relinking the Advanced Supply Chain Planning (ASCP) executables MSO, MSC, MSR and FEM. To fix this problem, users are required to replace the following line under the Linux section of the $AD_TOP/bin/adrelinknew.sh:

C P P _ L D F L A G S = ' L $ ( O R A C L E _ H O M E ) / l i b L $ ( O R A C L E _ H O M E ) / l i b / s t u b s l c l n t s h '

After making this change, users are then required to run the adadmin utility and relink application executables. Additional Information: The application of an EBS Release Update Pack (RUP) or AD family pack could overwrite the adrelinknew.sh file - users must then re-edit and make changes to the above file in order to avoid relinking failures.

Dynamic libraries are used as part of the relinking and execution processes. The LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable is used by Oracle E-Business Suite to locate the required dynamic libraries at runtime - this variable is set by the Rapid Install wizard during the installation of EBS as well as by the Rapid Clone script (adcfgclone) when configuring the target system. If you need to change these values, use the Edit Parameters function of the OAM AutoConfig tool (by logging in as 'System Administrator' responsibility, clicking on 'System Administrator', selecting 'AutoConfig' under 'Oracle Applications Manager', and clicking on the 'Environments' tab): On each application tier server node: LD_LIBRARY_PATH is set in three places: $APPL_TOP/admin/adovars.env $ORA_CONFIG_HOME/10.1.2/[CONTEXT_NAME].env, in the 10.1.2 Oracle home directory $ORA_CONFIG_HOME/10.1.3/[CONTEXT_NAME].env, in the 10.1.3 Oracle home directory In the AutoConfig interface, this corresponds to: Location adovars Parameter LD_LIBRARY_PATH

The 64-bit Oracle Advanced Supply Chain Planning executable MSONWL64.exe may crash when increasing the number of threads for optimization on a system with insufficient memory (bug 7259631). The following error is observed when this occurs:

FormsApplicationshangsonWindowsXPclient(OracleLinux6,RHEL6andSLES11only)
When switching between a Forms application and any other desktop application on a Windows XP client, the Forms application can hang and users may see a stack trace in the Java console indicating a connection error (bug 12636402) . This only occurs with this combination of the desktop client (Windows XP) and an E-Business Suite system running on a server with Oracle Linux 6.

PatchingApplicationServerOracleHomesusingOPatch(OracleLinux6andRHEL6only)
After an installation or clone of Release 12, you will need to set the OPATCH_PLATFORM_ID to '226' prior to applying patches to the 10.1.2 or 10.1.3 Application Server Oracle Homes. For example, in the "ksh" shell:

$ O P A T C H _ P L A T F O R M _ I D = 2 2 6 e x p o r t O P A T C H _ P L A T F O R M _ I D

This step is needed to avoid an OPatch Config Assistant failure.
