Description: Created 3 different variations of a Logo for a made up company

Logo

Process: I enjoyed this project because I was able to be completely creative. I started out with my type tool creating the names of my company. I really love typography and wanted it to be the base of my logos. I quickly got inspired to take a mix of my first and last names (Blake Oakey) and create the word bloaky. The inspiration for a butler type man came from the word bloke. I created a few little graphics using the pen tool, and the ellipses tool, and incorporated them into my typography. Eventually you see what I have created here. Programs/Tools Used: Adobe Illustrator Date: 11/3/2013 Course: Comm 150 Instructor: Julie Petersen

Letterhead

Description: A stationery project consisting of a letterhead and business card. I created a new, personal logo to use for this project and incorporated it into the letterhead and the business card. Process: I first started in Adobe Illustrator to create my new personal logo. I created a circle shape to symbolize the O in my last name. I then placed a B and an M inside of it to represent my first and middle names. I flipped the B and combined the M with it to make them share a side. I created outlines of the letters for I could manipulate them and combine them with the O shape I had. I then placed my logo in Adobe Indesign to where I created a very simple letterhead, and a business card. Description: A three panel, front and back brochure. Process: I created my logo in Illustrator using a font with a few different variations. I placed that logo in an indesign document that I had created. I figured out the dimensions of my brochure on a white board before I started placing all my items. I placed two of my photos into Photoshop to make a quick selection and remove the backgrounds. I placed those images into indesign with a alpha channel text wrap. I added my body copy and formatted everything to look nice. Programs/Tools Used: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop Date: 12/8/2013 Course: Comm 150 Instructor: Julie Peterson

Brochure

Description: A full bleed print ad created in Word, and using a scanned image.

Event Ad

Process: I scanned in my image of the shirts and ties. I sized it so it fit the whole page to make it my background. I then darkened the image by raising the contrast to bring out some of the colors while also lowering the opacity so the textures wouldnt overpower the ad. I then placed opaque boxes on the top and bottom to place my title and body text over. I also layered my title text on on top on the same text to give it contrast, depth, and make the words more visible on the ad. Description: A project aimed at showing how to use layering tools.

Montage

Process: I first chose the background image I wanted to use. I had to crop it to make it fit onto my 118.5 canvas. I then chose a second picture to use and did some masking to blend the photo into my background. I left some of the original background so the image would still be separate from the background image. I then added a shape, a filter to that shape, and added a quote on top of that filtered shape. Programs/Tools Used: Adobe Photoshop Date: 10/26/2013 Course: Comm 150 Instructor: Julie Peterson

Imaging

Description: A photo I took, edited, and formatted in Photoshop. Process: I took this photo of my laptop using a Canon T3i. I cropped it to a 66 image in photoshop. I desaturated the monitor, and colorized the sun spot and keyboard with a teal shade. I then placed this image on a blank canvas. The image above is the final product. Web Page

Description: A web page to show off my logo. Process: I created a web page using a combination of HTML and CSS. I altered the code in both formats to create the type of page that I wanted. I then added my logo into the page and changed all the page colors in CSS to better match my logo color schemes. Description: Black and White flier to promote a graduate leadership conference.

Flyer

Process: To learn a basic working knowledge of InDesign, I played around with the program basics like text boxes and adding boxes. I began the design process with a traditional paper and pen. After I got a good layout that I was happy with, I moved into InDesign. The basics that I learned while playing around allowed me to start in on the first draft with a reduced learning curve. The final draft has a greater focus on alignment and clarity of repetition. Programs/Tools Used: Adobe InDesign Date: 11/23/2013 Course: Comm 150 Instructor: Julie Peterson
