Das W&T Interface 84001 erlaubt die bidirektionale Verbindung von RS232-Gerten mit Komponenten, die mit einer aktiven oder passiven 20mA-Schnittstelle ausgerstet sind. Das Interface wandelt jeweils eine Datenleitung in jede Richtung und verfgt im Passivbetrieb ber eine galvanische Trennung zwischen der RS232- und der 20mASeite mit einer Isolationsspannung von 1000 Volt.

Auf der RS232-Seite sind die Hardware-Handshakeleitungen CTS und DSR auf Freigabepegel gelegt, so da das Interface ohne zustzliche Brcken direkt an RS232-Schnittstellen mit DTE-Belegung betrieben werden kann. Das W&T Interface 84001 kann sowohl als aktive als auch als passive 20mA-Komponente eingesetzt werden. In der aktiven Betriebsart liefert das Interface den Schleifenstrom fr die jeweilige 20mA-Schleife, whrend in der passiven Betriebsart das angeschlossene Gert den Schleifenstrom zur Verfgung stellen mu. Die Betriebsart kann fr beide Schleifen getrennt ber die externe Beschaltung des Interfaces eingestellt werden. Beispiele zur Beschaltung des Interfaces im Aktiv-/PassivBetrieb entnehmen Sie bitte den nebenstehenden Anschlubeispielen. Mit Hilfe der im Wandler integrierten Leuchtdioden lt sich die korrekte Beschaltung des 20mA-Interface-Eingangs berprfen. Die grne LED zeigt korrekten Stromflu in der Empfangsschleife an, whrend die rote LED bei verpoltem Anschlu leuchtet. Die Spannungsversorgung des Interfaces 84001 erfolgt ber das mitgelieferte Steckernetzteil, das unabhngig von der Betriebsart des Interfaces angeschlossen werden mu. The W&T Interface 84001 permits bi-directional connection of RS232 devices with components which are equipped with an active or passive 20mA port. The 84001 converts one data line in each direction, and in passive operation features galvanic isolation between the RS232 and the 20mA side with an isolation voltage of 1000 Volts.

On the RS232 side the hardware handshake lines CTS and DSR are set at the enable level, so that the Interface can operate directly on RS232 ports with DTE configuration without any additional jumpers. The W&T 84001 Interface can be used as either an active or passive 20mA component. In the active mode, the Interface provides the loop current for the corresponding 20mA loop, whereas in passive mode the connected device must supply the loop current. The mode can be configured separately for both loops depending on the external wiring of the Interface. Please see the adjacent wiring illustrations for examples of wiring the Interface for active vs. passive mode. The LEDs integrated into the converter let you check for correct wiring of the 20mA input. The green LED indicates correct current flow in the receiver loop, while the red LED comes on when the connection is polarity reversed. Power for the 84001 Interface is provided by the included power supply, which must be used regardless of which mode (active or passive) is selected. Subject to error and alteration 12/1998
