Features and uses of QMOD-SDI

The QMOD-SDI is a full duplex RS-232 which enables a system programmer to monitor status as well as control all functions. ASCII strings are the units through which all commands are sent. Between the characters or commands delays are not required, as data is buffered and interrupt driven. From a single RS-232 port, with a CR 232-series tuner a QMOD-SDI may be daisy-chained together. The tuner is be set to Unit 2 whereas the QMOD-SDI is pre-set to Unit 1. (Front Panel Mode 1)Communications parameters are 300 to 19200 baud, and 1 stop bit, 8 data bits, No parity. Factory default is Unit#1, 9600 baud. In the QMOD-SDI, all settings are saved to NVRAM. The QMOD is capable of accepting the non-standard RS-232 control such as voltage that varies from 0 to +5 VDC, when IR ports are used to send RS-232 commands.

Encoding:

1. For broadcasting, it creates a high-definition 720p/1080i MPEG-2 stream. 2. It accepts PCM, stereo, or pass-through AC-3 audio. For each input, it can create two MTS subchannels, where each channel can support two languages. 3. On composite video inputs, it includes captioning from Line 21 data. 4. It has flex encoding downscales from 1080p to 1080i, which allows the use of 1080p/ 720p 60Hz sources, and it compensates for sources such as consumer HD cameras which has a capacity of 60/30 Hz. 5. The full video up- and down-conversion is taken care by QMOD Scaling upgrade. 6. To create 2 HD channels, the selection of inputs is taken care by QMOD 2-channel upgrade.

Output of QMOD-SDI: For channels 2-135, it gives a fully agile QAM 64/256 digital cable. Each system has up to 270 HD Channels. From Gig E Ethernet port, it streams IPTV. It has an adjustable output level to 29 dBmV through which it distributes channel over an on-site broadband cable system which is compatible with all broadband systems which are of cable format.

Operation:

1. It has a set up with front-panel buttons and hence easy to use menus, including encoding, inputs, channel, and RF options. 2. It has an onboard web page for monitoring and setup. 3. It has control with commands from IP Telnet. 4. Its efficient design is useful in using rack space and saving power. 5. It has power supply which includes compact switching. 6.
