Doll Designer Guest Speaker For Garden Club


Mrs. Harry P. Waechter of Grand Island, speaking last night to the North Tonawanda Garden Club, explained her processes she uses to create dolls from apples. Mrs. Warren J. Hildebrandt and Mrs. Richard Gursling, chairman, announced that Sept 16-17 have been set as dates for the club's flower show at the Marine Midland First Trust Office, Tonawanda. Receiving recognition w e r e Mrs. Robert Smith, Mrs. James A. Crino, Mrs. Philip H. Reid and Mrs. James H. Schoenfeldt who won honorable mention for arrangements they entered in the Grand Island Flower Show. Mrs. Gerard H. Davis, president, announced club roster is open for new members and introduced a guest, Mrs. Edward Duda. Hostesses in Abiding Savior Church House were Mrs. John E. Kiendl and Mrs. Erwin Mavis. Their arrangement bore the title "Here Comes the Bride."

St Joseph HSA Seats First Slate of Officers


First officers for the newly organized Home School Association at St. Joseph Church were installed last night in the Payne Avenue parish hall. Heading the organization are William Fleming, president; James Bubb, vice president; Mrs. Maurice Huffer, secretary and Gary Barton, treasurer. Officiating were Mrs. Edward L. O'Hara and Mrs. Richard Halloran, representatives for the Federation of Home School Associations of the Diocese of Buffalo. The Home School association replaces the former Mothers' Club of the church. The club as a final gesture presented service pins to the following mothers: For 20 years service; Mrs. Marion Moderacki, Mrs. Walter Yomashuk, Mrs. Sally Petersen, Mrs. Joseph Kulikowskik, Mrs. Thaddeus Berdzik, Mrs. Robert Schmidt and Mrs. Andrew Smolen. Fifteen year pins to: Mrs. Bernard Taberski, Mrs. George Ziegler, Mrs. Charles Amabile, Mrs. Louis Kowalski, Mrs. Adam Dworzanski and Mrs. Chester Wawrzynek. Ten year pins were awarded to: Mrs. Teddy Synoracki, Mrs. William Carney, Mrs. Edward Tucker and Mrs. Henry Janczyk. A buffet luncheon and social hour concluded the program.

Couple at Home After Tour Of New England


Baskets of white gladioli and pompons enhanced the altar of Ascension Church for the wedding of Miss Maryanne Yaglowski and Richard Alan Krause. The Rev. James Hayes officiated May 27 for the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Adam Yaglowski of 319 Oliver St., North Tonawanda, and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul A. Krause of 304 Bryant St., North Tonawanda. The bride wore an Alencon lace trimmed gown with a detachable train and a bouffant veil caught to a lace petal cloche trimmed with pearls. She carried white glamellias and lily of the valley. Her attendants were her sis ter, Miss Gloria Yaglowski, maid of honor; Miss Marylou Krause and Miss Marcella Wroblewski of Kingston, Pa., bridesmaids and Barbara Krause, junior bridesmaid. They wore empire gowns accented with nylon cages of daisy lace with matching coiffure bows and carried baskets of white daisies and pink roses. The bridegroom was attended by Clark D. Page of New Hampshire, best man, Brian Krause and Dan Keller, ushers and Timothy Gillotti, junior bridegroom. The bride's mother wore a beige chiffon dress and the bridegroom's mother wore a gold chiffon cage dress. Both wore rose and carnation corsages. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Bijoy Chatterjee of Nathnagar, Bhagaltur, Bihar, India. A reception was given at Sikora Post. The couple is at home In 163 Fletcher St., Tonawanda, after a wedding journey to Cape Cod, Mass., and New England States.

Church Women List Hostesses


Women of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, East Felton Street, announce hostesses for circle meetings scheduled next week when the topic of discussion will be "He is the Resurrection and the Life." Ruth Circle will meet at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday in the church parlors with Mrs. Walter Heiwig study leader. Rebekah Circle will meet at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday in the home of Mrs. Albert Siegfried, 413 Rogers Ave., with Mrs. Herbert Kissinger study leader. Martha Circle will meet at 7:45 p.m. Thursday in the church parlors, Miss Christine Bull, study leader. All women of the church and their friends are invited to participate. The day Mills married Sylvia Gardiner her mother, Hilda, also was married. Mills suggested a joint honeymoon and that's how it was.

Queen Mother Given Order of Dogwood


LONDON (UPI) - Queen Mother Elizabeth has added an unusual new decoration to the many awarded her during the years. It is the Order of Dogwood, presented by British Columbia. It commemorates the 100th anniversary of the union of the colonies of Vancouver Island and British Columbia, and is presented to persons "deemed worthy of particular recognition on behalf of the people and government of the province of British Columbia." The order's insignia is a gold medal bearing the emblem of the dogwood, and the B.C. coat of arms.
