CPU PEN
The functionality of the CPU is one !y one of the "en as sho#n in figure. It is also $no#n as co%"uting engine. *he central !rocessing unit (#P<) is the !ortion o% a computer syste' that carries out the instructions o% a computer program, and is the !ri'ary ele'ent carrying out the co'!uter1s %unctions$ *he central !rocessing unit carries out each instruction o% the !rogra' in se+uence, to !er%or' the basic arith'etical, logical, and in!ut>out!ut o!erations o% the syste'$ *his ter' has been in use in the co'!uter industry at least since the early /5?.s$[1] *he %or', design and i'!le'entation o% #P<s ha e changed dra'atically since the earliest e3a'!les, but their %unda'ental o!eration re'ains 'uch the sa'e$
