PREPARATION OF INSULIN SINGLE INSULIN DOSE Requred Materas: Insun syrnge Insun va/s Cotton bas wth acoho Step 1. Ro the nsun botte (va) genty between your hands. Ro a botte of coudy nsun unt the whte powder has dssoved. Rong the botte w warm the nsun f you have been keepng the botte n the refrgerator. Important Do not shake the nsun va. Step 2. Wpe the rubber d of the nsun botte wth an acoho wpe or a cotton ba dpped n acoho. Let the acoho dry. If you are usng a va for the frst tme, remove the protectve cover from the rubber d before ceanng. Step !. Remove the pastc cap coverng the neede on your nsun syrnge. Important Do not touch the neede. Step ". Pu the punger of the syrnge back and draw ar nto the syrnge equa to the number of unts of nsun to be gven. Step #. Frst, nsert the neede of the syrnge nto the rubber d of the nsun botte. Next, push the punger of the syrnge to force the ar nto the botte. Then, eave the neede n the botte. Rationa$e Forcng ar nto the nsun botte equazes the pressure n the botte when removng the dose of nsun. Step %. Frst, turn the botte and syrnge upsde down. Next, poston the tp of the neede so that t s beow the surface of nsun n the botte. Then, pu back the punger to f the syrnge wth sghty more than the correct number of unts of nsun to be gven. Step &. Frst, tap the barre of the syrnge so that trapped ar bubbes move nto the neede area. Next, push the ar bubbes back nto the botte. Make sure you have the correct number of unts of nsun n your syrnge. Usuay the syrnge s at a 90-degree ange to the skn ste. If the patent s a thn adut, you may want to nsert the neede at a 45-degree ange. 5. Bend your wrst and qucky push the neede a the way nto the pnched-up area. Then et go of the pnched-up area. 6. Push the punger of the syrnge a the way n so the nsun goes nto the fatty tssue. Wat a few seconds to make sure the nsun gets nto the tssues. 7. Take the neede out at the same ange that you nserted t. If there s a tte beedng, appy pressure over the n|ecton ste wth a cotton ba. Do not rub the area. Check the bood sugar more frequenty on the days when beedng occurs. 8. Dscard the neede. Do not recap.
