Matthew 2:13-23 New International Version (NIV) The Escape to Egypt 13 When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. Get up, he said, take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him. 14 So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt, 15 where he stayed until the death of Herod. And so was fulfilled what the Lord had said through the prophet: Out of Egypt I called my son.[ 16 When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi. 17 Then what was said through the prophet Jeremiah was fulfilled: 18 A voice is heard in Ramah, weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because they are no more. Having been warned in a dream, he withdrew to the district of Galilee, 23 and he went and lived in a town called Nazareth. So was fulfilled what was said through the prophets, that he would be called a Nazarene.

elcome to New Hope Church, now into our third century serving God! If you are visiting, you will discover a loving, spirit-filled church family. Here is some helpful information as you join us in worship today: All who worship here are equals in the sight of God, regardless of race, age, gender, physical disability or religious affiliation. Communion, when celebrated, is open to all who profess Christ as Lord and Savior, whether affiliated with this church or not. Children may partake of Communion as well, if parents approve. A nursery is available during the service; please see a greeter for directions. (This is for infants and children up to 3 years of age.) Handicap-accessible restrooms are located off the narthex (main foyer) and adjacent to the entrance lobby in the Fellowship Hall/Gym. Please complete the tear-off attendance slip attached to the bulletin and drop it in the offering plate so we will have a record of your visit with us today. Thank you for remembering to silence your cell phone during the service. We ask that there be no food or beverages in the sanctuary, please. If you arrived as a visitor we hope that you leave as a friend and worship with us often! Ministries/Activities Within Our Church

New Year Prayer Services. Please sign on the attendance sheet this Sunday if you will attend a series of prayer meetings at the church on three successive Wednesday nights, 6:30 - 7:15 PM at the church. January 8, 15, 22. Informal. A song or two. Teaching on prayer, including intercessory prayer. Anyone in the church can ask for prayer for yourself or someone you know. We will pray for the success of our 100 attendance goal. The pastor will be present before and after for those people who want counseling or personal prayer with him. The Christmas Eve service was attended by 108 people. We had 94 last year, and less the year before. So, there has been an increase each year for several years. No reason we cant do this on Sunday mornings, too! 2014 Offering Envelopes are available on the old communion table in the Narthex. We can express our gratitude to God for the grace we have received in Jesus Christ by giving generously to the work of his church. Giving with regularity is an opportunity to grow in our faith and obedience to Gods word. Using the envelopes enables you to designate the budget(s) to which you are giving and al-

so ensures that you will receive proper documentation of your giving for tax purposes. Attendance Goal for 2014. Increase Sunday morning attendance to reach 100. Please see the Pastors Notes on the church website for suggestions from him on how to work toward this goal. 2013 Loaves and Fishes Thanksgiving Offering was $274.54. Thanks for giving to this important offering for missions. Compassionate Hands. Remember you can volunteer to work on Saturday nights to help those who are homeless. We give them a place to sleep and a good breakfast on Sunday morning. Let Lee Ann or Alene know if you want to help, or please contact the church at 444-7020. Youth Worship on Wednesday Nights @ 6:00 at New Hope - teens experience contemporary and motivated style of worship (grades 7-12). We have a service with prayer, singing praises to God and a youth-focused sermon that teach the truths from Gods Word in a way teens relate to and understand. Pastor Brad leads this service, and opens the doors for teens to start coming at 5pm to hang out, play games, and talk. Pastor Brad says, We love hanging out together and worshiping an awesome God! New Hope invites the men of the church and the surrounding community to a weekly Prayer Breakfast each Tuesday morning at 6:00 a.m. A devotional is shared over breakfast, and a time of prayer follows before the busy workday begins. In a casual atmosphere men may discuss concerns that stay within the group. A bond between friends develops. This is a meaningful time of fellowship for the men who attend. Visitors are always welcome. Come join us! Stephen Ministry - Got a burden? You dont have to carry that burden alone. You can have a STEPHEN MINISTER who will spend time with you, listen to you, and walk beside you.
