Mothers Day

You will need a 2 mm quilling paper in dark pink, yellow, white, lavender and green shades and a 10 mm pale yellow shade. Get a quilling tool, pale yellow paper of 6 cm X 9 cm, a textured silver card, knife, ruler and a mat. Get 3 mm wide lavender colored ribbon of 15 cm length, 1 cm wide sparkly ribbon of 15 cm length and 1 cm wide sparkly ribbon of 20 cm length. You also need a thin card of size 13 mm X 16 cm, adhesive, sticky tape, a fixer pad and a white linen card. Making the card On the cutting mat, open the card and put it down. Mark the position and size as shown below. At 1 cm apart on the left, mark straight lines.

Slice out the marked lines with the help of knife and ruler to create slits down the panel side.

Take a piece of 3 mm lavender ribbon and insert it through the openings in the card. On the small opening of the card, put one end of the ribbon and tape it there so that the ribbon is completely covered. Cut either end of the strip.

Insert the ribbon from the back by placing the card face up. Crease the card and on its backside, draw an aperture. Paste the yellow background paper on the marked lines by opening the card. Spread a little amount of gum at the corner of the flap and fold it again, by pressing it tightly. Using a ribbon of 20 cm, make a bow and paste it at the end of the ribbon. Lavender flower

Take a quarter length of lavender and create five teardrops. Now, create one stiff coil and paste all the five petals around it. Deep pink flower

Using one-third length of pink, create five loose coils. Drag the center to one side with a pin, after putting gum on its back. Let the gum dry. Using lavender of length one-third, makes a stiff coil and pastes all the petals around it.

Pale Blue flower Take 10 mm pale blue paper, cut it in half and clip its one side fully. On this fringe of blue, paste one-sixth of the lavender. On the quilling tool, roll the lavender paper, then blue and finally paste the end and remove from the tool.

To create the fringe flower, crease the petals and paste them. Create three loose coils for leaf and stem with green paper, and paste them.

On the silver card, draw or trace the shape of a vase. Cut it out and fix it with a sticky fixer.

Lavender Roses
You need a 2 mm quilling paper of white, bright green and dark green colors. Get one quilling tool, a gold cord of 50 cm, a red card of 10 X 15 cm size, and a purple paper of 3 cm x 12 cm size. Also, get one red label sticker, a hole punch, tracing paper and pencil. Do not forget the essentials, a knife, adhesive and a card mount.

Making the card Place the tracing paper on the picture and get the curved shape. Turn the drawn figure back and trace it again. Use a knife or scissors to cut out the shape. At the Corner of the curve, paste a fine cord.

Making 14 leaves

Create loose coils with a quarter length of medium green. Take the quilling tool and roll the paper loosely. Let the coil drop from the tool and paste the end of the paper. To give shape to the coil, squeeze both the ends. Make a collection of three leaves by pasting them together. Simultaneously, create four collections of leaves and leave two leaves loose.

Making of three folded leaves Create the leaves by looping the strips and creasing them into half. After folding them, paste their ends and then partly cover the backside, as shown.

Making of 31 white flowers and buds Take the bands of white paper, spin them into a loose coil and paste its end. Press one side of coil inwards to form the desired shape.

Making of the 4 buds Make a tight coil of white of 3 cm length and paste its end before removing from the tool.

Now, take two bright green bands and two dark green bands, and paste their backs together. Trim the band accordingly and place the flowers and buds on it, as shown in the above two illustrations.

Making of 6 lavender roses Cut out six circles from purple paper. Place a small coin on the paper and then cut the paper in spiral form. Wind the spiral on the tool and by pasting

the end, you will get the center of the rose. Paste the center of the rose on white paper. Now, paste all the six circles around the center. When the gum dries, take out the flower from the paper by peeling off or cutting.

Assemble the moon shape card, flower, and stems with the help of adhesive.

Musical lovebirds
Take 3 mm Quilling paper of colors black, brown, purple, light brown, red, bright green, yellow and dark green. You will also need one pair of 3 mm joggles eyes, tweezers, a small paintbrush, a sheet of paper, Quilling tool, craft adhesive, and card mount.

Making the card Take the card mount and glue all the edges together. To make leaves, robins, and musical notes, you will need to make closed loose coils. Take the quilling tool, and wind the paper over it to form a coil. Allow the coil to drop and unwind. Glue the end (Refer to illustration below). This is the basic technique you shall be using to develop all the shapes required.

Leaf To make a leaf, make a loose coil, pinch at each end, and give a twist to form the leaf-shape. Make five of these.

Body After making a loose coil, press one of the sides inward as you pinch the ends slightly. (See illustration below). Make two of these.

Holly Pinch both ends of the coil with the help of tweezers. Next, squeeze the middle of the coil inward with the tweezers and hold it there, as you push the pinched end inwards. (See illustration below). Make two of these. To make holly berries, form a tight coil by coiling a strip of red paper around the quilling tool and glue. Make three of these.

Head After making a loose coil, pull the center towards the direction of the edge and glue it. Make two of these. Fix the joggles eyes in place and glue them.

Wings To form wings pinch one of the ends firmly. If you want to give an extra curve to the shape, then give a twist to the coil as you pinch it. Make two of these.

To make the two robins, collect the parts you made and assemble them as shown in the illustration below.

A length of dark brown color is folded in half and glued to get a double thickness strip. Take a length of 7 cm of paper and snip end to taper. Curve smoothly to the shape of the branch and glue on the card. Cut two more strips of 2 cm each and taper them at one end. Glue these papers on the branch by the non-tapered ends.

To make musical notes, take the black strip of paper and roll one end tightly about five to six turns on the quilling tool. Treat the other end similarly and bend the straight part of the strip as shown in the illustration below.

Now gather all that you have created and fix them on the card referring to the design.

Christmas Robin
You will need a 3 mm quilling paper of dark brown, bright maroon, pale blue and bright green colors. Get a bright green card (60 mm X 100 mm) and collect the scraps of blue, red and brown cards. You will also need a quilling tool, few black and red colored pens, tracing paper, pencils, some sticky fixers, adhesive and a white card.

Making the card Place the tracing paper over the picture of the pillar-box and trace all the parts excluding the grass. Put the tracing paper over the colored portion of the card and trace firmly over the lines once again to indent the card. Cut all the retraced portions and keep them aside. To make grass, cut 9 cm long green quilling paper and rib it with the ribbing tool.

Now for the making of the pillar-box, you need adhesive, as it will firmly hold your pillar-box. To paste it firmly, use the adhesive on one side of the lid and base and overlap it by about 4 mm. One thing that you must consider is that the top ends of the box do not show beyond the arc of the lid, On the box paste the slot and with a black pen paint some curvy lines, as if you are writing something. Now, with a red pen paint a stamp, paste it on the letter, and write on it something with black pen. Take a sticky fixer, cut it into eight equal parts. Paste few pieces at the backside of the pillar-box. Paste them away from the corners of the pillar-box to avoid their visibility. Paste the pillar-box on the card by stripping off the back. Put the letter aside, after placing a little piece of sticky fixer on the reverse side of the letter.

Prepare two loose coils in dark maroon; where the size of the head is 20 cm and body is 30 cm. Give it a proper shape by pinching the body at one end gently. Using a pale green paper, prepare a small peg of 5 cm and before removing it from the tool paste the end. The eye should appear very small, so take care that the core portion must be tight. You can also roll it between your thumb and finger, if your tool is not very efficient.

For the preparation of the tail, make a coil from 20 cm length of dark maroon paper. Pinch one end to make a teardrop like structure and push the opposite end inwards with the back part of the tool. To sharpen the arrowhead, pinch the end hard.

Create a loose coil of golden color of 15 cm length. Flatten it between your fingers until it is completely flat and then sharpened it by pinching its end.

To form the beak, snip off 10 mm from the dark brown paper and fold at the center.

To make the feet, snip off 15 mm from dark brown paper. Crease the paper half way and again crease both the sides, as shown below.

Glue all the parts of the robin together and paste the robin on the pillar-box, and the letter on the card.

Quilled Paper Filigree

The making of filigree cards with a quilling paper is known as Quilligree. Material You need a tracing paper of 10 X 10 cm size, six strips of dark pink quilling paper, six heart shaped sequins, adhesive, a plastic lid, pencils and tweezers.

Making the card Place the tracing paper over the design given below and trace it using a pencil. Now, place the traced design on the card and redraw over the traced lines firmly, so that the design is indented on the card.

Making the coil Take seven small strips and twirl them around the quilling tool. Let them fall over the work board to unwind a bit, and paste the end. Making 12 heart shapes Take twelve small strips, fold them into half and coil both ends of each strip towards the centre.

Make one heart with a half strip and another with 1/8 strip length. Place the smaller heart inside the large heart, to be placed at the bottom right hand corner of the card. Pour some adhesive on the plastic lid, an thin it by adding a small drop of water. Take a cocktail stick to spread it thinly. Take each coil, apply the adhesive and stick on the card. Compress all the coils after pasting them on the card. Next, paste all the hearts around them and around the edge too. Lastly, paste the large heart at the right hand bottom corner of the card. Spread little amount of gum frequently, as it has the tendency to dry quickly. Paste the sequins at the top or in the middle of the shapes. Pick the Sequins with the help of tweezers. For pasting the sequins, take care that the adhesive should be concentrated. Never apply adhesive with your fingers. It is better to use a cocktail stick and put a dab of glue where the sequin is to be fixed.

Swan
You will need 3 mm quilling paper of colors white X 12, black X 1, light brown X 1, dark brown X 3, green X 1 and crimped blue X 1. You will also need three white cigarette papers, tracing paper, a small quilling tool, a brown tipped pen, craft adhesive and a card mount.

Trace the outline of the swan (given below) onto the tracing paper. Place the tracing paper over the card and retrace firmly with a pencil to indent the shape onto the card. With the help of the small quilling tool, make the shapes mentioned below. Take the white quilling paper and cut into quarters. Make forty-eight white eye shapes by forming loose coils on the quilling tool. Next, take the black quilling paper and form dart shapes with it. Use 40 mm of black paper and make a tight peg on the quilling tool. Make a loose coil in light brown for the beak. Pinch one of the ends to form a point and flatten the other end. Round the corners of this long triangular beak. Place the white eye shapes on the traced outline carefully to form a proper swan. When you are satisfied about the shape, glue these pieces together. You can make necessary changes to the shape by bending and pushing the pieces. Do not glue the pieces to the tracing paper. Add the dart (head), the peg eye, and the beak in position. To make stems, roll the cigarette papers tightly diagonally and glue the end. Take the brown felt pen and color the stems brown.

Cut nine 80 mm lengths of dark brown paper. With the help of the quilling tool, make 9 tight pegs. Slide three pegs onto each stem. Glue them to hold in position. To make leaves, make taller loops on the right side and shorter ones on the left side. Next, flatten the loops and snip off the top at an angle for tapering effect. Glue the back of the leaves. Collect the other pieces and glue them on the card. Crimp some blue paper and add onto the card to make waves.

Rabbit
You will need 3 mm of quilling paper in medium, upper dress 24 strips, lower dress 18 strips, black 1 strip, white 4 strips, brown 19 strips, dark brown 2 strips, gold 1 strip or a golden marker or golden ink. Get a quilling tool, adhesive, tracing paper, and a card mount.

Making the Card Using the quilling paper, create eye shaped structures. Take purple strips of half-length to develop the head and body. To create ears, take tiny strips of pink. Take a quarter length of black for the eye. For the ears, take three quarter lengths of light pink. For the front paws, use pink, and use dark purple for the hind paws. Take a full length of light pink for the tail. Make the coat of the rabbit with a half-length of green.

If you want to create a large coil, use a full-length quilling paper, otherwise, use a small length quilling paper. Over the picture of the rabbit, place the tracing paper and place all the shapes on it. Place the eye in its place, attach the shapes, and paste them simultaneously. While pasting the shapes, be careful not to paste the shapes on the tracing paper. Use light pink paper to neatly trim the ears. Similarly, cautiously trim the coat and tail. After that, add the paws. Paste the whiskers inside the rabbits nose with small strips of black. Now, neatly remove the rabbit from the tracing paper, spread some adhesive on its back and paste it on the card.

Make buttons with quarter strips of light pink. Cut these strips in half, and then roll them into tight coils. If you do not have the desired quilling paper for the button, you can also color it pink. Making Shapes To make loose coils, curl the desired length of paper on the quilling tool and let it drop on the work table to unwind. Paste the end. Between your finger and thumb, pinch both ends of the coil to create an eye shape. To make paws, pick an eye shaped coil and press all around with the quilling tool to create an arrowhead shape.

Sea Life
You will need a quilling tool, pastel blue paper (11 cm x 16 cm(, olive green quilling paper (4 mm, 3 mm), and quilling paper in the following colors: purple, rust, turquoise, burnt orange, olive green, flesh, dark green, pale green, salmon, and black. You will also need craft adhesive and a card mount.

Making the Card The background paper is hand marbled to give a swirling sea effect, using white paint. If you do not want to do the marbling on your own, use a pastel blue paper instead. Insert the blue paper between the two folds of the card, behind the aperture, and glue the two folds together. To provide special effects to the weeds, use a fine crimping tool, or use a ribbler if you wish to make the weeds look coarser.

Eyes Take the quilling tool and roll the black paper tightly around it for three turns. Glue the end, and then remove from the tool. Refer to the image below to see how the eyes will look after being removed from the tool. You will need six eyes in all.

Fish You will need two pieces of rust paper and salmon paper, quarter lengths. Using the quilling tool, make a loose coil and glue the end. Next, pinch one end to form shape shown below.

Take a 15 mm strip of rust paper and salmon paper, and then cut a ' V' on one end of each strip, as shown in the illustration below. Take the body of the fish and glue an eye and tail on it, as shown.

Crabs Take two quarter lengths of flesh colored paper. Using the quilling tool, make two loose coils and glue the end. Flatten one side to form a semi circular shape, as shown in the following illustration. Join two flat sides of the semi circular shapes with glue, as shown in the illustration below. To create eyes, make a tight peg on the quilling tool with black paper. Cut the peg in half and paste on the upper half of the crabs body. Take the flesh colored paper of two 2 cm lengths and crimp them. Fold each in half, lengthwise, and then paste them on each side of the crab to form legs.

Octopi Make two rolls of half-length purple paper with a loose coil. Glue then ends, and then flatten one of the sides, as shown. With the help of the crimping tool, crimp the purple paper and cut 5 cm lengths to make the legs. Paste the legs on the lower part of body, varying the lengths, as shown.

Sea Weed and Pebbles Make loose coils from quarter lengths of paper: four-turquoise, three-burnt orange, two-pale green, two-olive green, and two-dark green. Shape three dark green coils, pinching both sides. Pinch each side of the remaining coils, while simultaneously pushing the ends towards each other.

To make a 3 cm tall loop, fold the paper into a long loop. Glue the ends to make a shorter loop on one side. Glue the fish, crabs, and octopi on the card.

Make Sea Weeds using green paper and form four coils (two in light green and two in olive green). Glue them on the card. Glue loose pebbles and plants on the sea bed. Cut lengths of crimped olive green paper, and taper the top end of each piece. These will serve as flowing weeds. Glue them on the card.

Violets and Snowdrops

The material that you will require is 3 mm quilling paper of colors dark pink, dark yellow, green and violet, 1.5 mm quilling paper of colors dark pink, green, light green and white. You may also need a quilling too, tracing paper, masking tape, cork tile or fiber-board, long pins, marbled background paper, and a Card mount.

Making the Card Place the marbled paper between the folds of the card so that it is visible through the aperture. Glue the card closed. The Husking method is used for making petals. The illustration below shows how the husking method works. There is a different type of layout for different types of flowers.

Take the tracing paper, place it on the pattern and mark the dots on it with a pencil. Place the tracing paper on the cork tile and tape it to position. Insert the pins partly through the dots and wind the strips of paper around them, as shown in the above illustration. All the windings are shown larger than actual size for clarity.

Make three of these. Use 1.5 mm dark pink paper to make three six-petal flowers. To finish the flower wind the paper around it to end right at the bottom. Glue the end as shown in the above illustration. With the help of the quilling tool, roll a % length of 3 mm dark pink strip into a peg, glue the end so that it does not unroll, and remove from the tool. Push the centre to form a cone and glue the inside to retain its shape. See illustration below.

Violets Make four of these. Use length of 3 mm violet strip and make four loose coils. Wind the paper on to the quilling tool, remove it and let it unwind a little, and then glue the end. Pinch one end on two coils to form teardrop shapes, and pinch both ends of the two remaining coils to make eye shapes.

Tall Leaves You will need four tall leaves. Make leaves of differing lengths between 4 and 6 cm. Take the 3 mm green paper and form a loop of about 1 cm length at one end, and glue as shown below. Insert pins in the cork tile in a straight line and continue to form loops as shown. Glue the end at the bottom along with all other strips that join at the bottom.

Insert pins on the cork tile as per the pattern shown below. Take the green 3 mm strip and work it around the pins as illustrated. When done, finally wind the strip around the formation and glue end at the top. Pinch the top slightly.

Take the green strip, make a tight peg with the help of the quilling tool and glue the end. This will be your flower center. Next, take the four petals and glue them around the flower center in the formation illustrated below. Glue the green petal accordingly.

Base Leaves Make 7 of these. Take the 3 mm green paper and form loose coils as described previously. Pinch both the ends of the coil and twist a little to give it proper shape. Make the leaves and stems of varying lengths by folding the paper into half and gluing them. This provides hardness to the leaves. Snow Drops Make four of these. Use 1.5 mm white quilling paper and pin the layout below. Wind the petals in the direction as illustrated. Glue the end at the top. Take out the pins and pinch at the point shown.

Double Leaves Make 2 of these. Use lengths of 3 mm green paper, make loose coil on the quilling tool. To form a teardrop, pinch one end and flatten one of the sides. Glue the flattened sides together to form double leaves.

Stem and Thin Leaves Take the 3 mm green strips of paper, fold in half and glue them together. Snip off one of the ends diagonally, as shown.

Start gluing the pieces onto the card in two stages. Pieces are glued flat on the card (see picture to guide you). To begin with place the snowdrops and then place the tall leaves inside the aperture. Trim the stems to the length you feel is proper. Finally, add leaves and flowers. Glue all the remaining pieces partially or fully on top of those placed earlier, beginning with daffodil violets and their stems and base leaves.

Primrose Card
You will require quilling paper 3 mm lilac, red, pale blue, green and very pale pink, 5 mm white quilling paper. You will also need a green Parch Marque paper 10 cm x 14 cm in size, a pen and pearlised lilac ink, a card mount, and crimper.

Making the card Using pearlised ink, one can write a quotation on the background. If your handwriting is not so good, then make use of other alternatives. If you are using a computer,

choose a text color to match with the card and take a printout. Place the paper between the flaps of the card, behind the aperture, and glue it and the flaps of the card as well. Two Lilac flowers Create seven petals from the lilac paper, as per instructions given for the daffodil petals. Take a 5 mm length of white quilling paper and fringe length of it. Add it to the 1/8 length of red paper. Take the quilling tool, roll a peg of red paper on it, and paste its end, before removing from the tool. Pin on to board and around the fringe center paste all the seven petals evenly, as shown.

Three Bellflowers Take length of the red paper, wind it tightly around the quilling tool and paste its end. Give it a cone shape by pushing a little through the center. The length of the cone should be approximately 1 cm. Spread glue on the inner side and let it dry.

Two Red Flowers Take a red paper and cut out five petals from it, like the lilac petals. However, these petals are a little short and round than the daffodil petals. For accurate positioning of the pins, consult the picture given below. Take the red and pale pink papers and neatly fringe 1/8 length of them. On the quilling tool, roll them and paste the end, before removing from the tool. Attach on the board with the help of pins and paste all the five petals around it. Now, create a flower with an extra fringe.

Eight large leaves and four small leaves Take a green paper of % lengths for large leaves and to make small leaves, lengths. Now, start making a loose coil and paste its end.

Pinch both the ends of the coil and twist it slightly. To create a border and curved leaves, paste pale green paper on the back of a very pale lilac and let it dry. Use crimper on it, if you have not yet cut it. Otherwise, you can use it straight, if there is no crimper. On the inner side of the edge of the aperture, put a very thin line of glue and onto its edge paste the border. If possible, use tweezers for holding it. Referring to the picture, paste all the pieces onto the card and place the flowers and leaves in their respective positions.

Roses
Material You will need 3 mm quilling paper, white and olive green in color. In addition, procure some scraps of red and yellow paper. The tools you will need for quilling are a pair of scissors, quilling tool, tweezers, heart-shaped paper punch, gray paper 11 cm x 16 cm, and craft adhesive. Use an AP02U textura natural white card mount.

Making the Card Make ten roses, following the procedure given here. Take the heart-shaped paper punch and punch out three hearts from the red paper.

Now, take the scissors and snip each heart shape from the bottom point to approximately half-way up, as shown in the above illustration. Apply a bit of glue to one side of the snipped half, and push both ends in the opposite direction so that they overlap each other. Hold in that position for awhile, until the glue sets.

Stick the three hearts together at the base with glue (as shown above).

Take the yellow paper and cut a 2 cm square. Snip off the corners and cut a spiral from any of the edges going into the center (as shown above).

Wind the spiral around the quilling tool and stick its end with glue. Remove the spiral from the tool and hold the glued part so that it does not uncoil. Next, glue the spiral to the center of the red flower.

Next, taking the quilling tool, make fourteen (14) rolls from the white quilling paper and glue the end to prevent them from uncoiling. They will serve as little pegs.

Take the green paper, roll a length into a loose coil, and stick the end with glue. Pinch one of the ends to form dewdrops (as shown above). Make four such dewdrops.

Roll a loose coil with the green paper and stick the end with glue. Pinch the coil at both ends and push them together to create a shape resembling a leaf. Make two of these shapes. Next, make two similar shapes of slightly larger size to create larger leaves, as shown in the above illustration. Make another loose coil of similar length, but do not shape it.

Take two complete lengths of green paper and glue them to form a thick strip. Card Arrangement To form a bouquet, place the pieces on the card. Arrange the three flowers, placing them wider on the centerline, as shown in the illustration below.

Now place the rest of the flowers, leaves and pegs as shown. Once you are satisfied with the layout, glue the pieces on the card, handling them with tweezers. Now, take the thick strip you glued together earlier, cut a 5-6 cm length, and fold in half to form a V. Glue it on the card in the space shown in the illustration. Cut six more strips 4-5 cm long. Clip one of the ends to form an angle. Curve them slightly and fix them on the card as shown. You can use your own color scheme (as shown earlier), design, and imagination to create as many different cards as you want.
