ongratulations, you have made it this far. Today is the first day of the rest of your life. Are you ready for tomorrow? This is a series of

different activities that will span 365 days. Some activities will be subtle, others will be more involved. At the end of the 365 days even if you do only 20 of these things you will be a new person. Be careful and have fun! In our day to day lives we may often find ourselves getting stuck in an very comfortable rut. Sometimes we need to leave that comfort zone to learn what kind of person we really are. Its never an easy task doing something we dont usually do or never do. Change is good, despite popular belief, change is what helps us realize we are alive and gives us appreciation we never had.

rab $10 $20, a small pad, and a pen or pencil. Go outside and start walking, or drive to the city. The note pad is so you can record

something you will remember. The cash is to spend on yourself or another. Walk around for a while until you find a place outside to sit down and spend some time. Pull out your pen and pad and start writing, write down what you see, write down every detail. Wait, eventually someone will talk to you. When they do, you must say and do whatever you need to so you can spend at least 3-4 hours with them. The object here is to learn something new and step outside your comfort zone. Stay outside until you learn something new or have found yourself doing something you never would.

nowledge is a great tool and learning can be a great experience. Usually it is not our physical traits that get us to where we are in life.

It is our ability to learn and apply our knowledge to better ourselves or improve our position that helps us. The best way to find out if something is true is to read about it or experience it yourself. One of the premiere organizations in the Gnostic tradition is offering free online courses. Pick a single course to learn about or learn them all. Since its free take advantage of it. If you dont have time to read then they offer podcasts of some of the lessons. www.gnosticteachings.org/courses

oday, go for a walk, small drive, or bike ride to a nearby cemetery; the older the better. Before you go you will need one or all of the

following. Camera Pencil, or Crayon Pad Pen Large sheet of paper

When you get to the cemetery just start wandering. While you wander remember that there are people here, and these people once meant something important to someone. If the cemetery is new, go to where the older graves are. Pick a grave at random, and take a picture of the tombstone, if you brought your camera. If you dont have a camera then get the large piece of paper out, and your pencil or crayon. Place the paper over the stone and do a rubbing of a particular part that interests you or gets your attention. When you have your rubbing, thank the person out of respect for allowing you the opportunity to do this. Write down their name and any other information on their tombstone.

ur lives are filled with a non-stop barrage of stimuli and stress. We must therefore take the time to stop and recharge or risk breaking

down. Medical science has proven that of all spiritual practices meditation actually helps to reduce stress by allowing the brain to enter the theta state. The real challenge isnt the meditation technique; but actually finding the time to set aside to meditate. To get any benefits from meditation one will need at least 15-20 minutes. To meditate, you may sit or lay down. Begin by relaxing all the muscles in your body. Once you are relaxed breathe in to a count of three hold for four and exhale for three. This is a simple technique that will get you relaxed in no time.

ost people will spend at least 2-3 hours a day devoted to watching television. Now combine that with all popular broadcast media

and prerecorded media; and we have a tremendous loss of time. If one does not value their time, can they appreciate the time they have in which they are not attempting to survive in this modern world? This does not have to be a permanent change, but can be an effective one if done for but a day. If you are a regular user of television, or radio, then much can be gained in retrospection in this new found time. While giving up TV or radio, find something else to do with that time. Consider reading, going for a walk, taking a nap, drawing, writing, or cooking as an alternative to watching TV. Much more can be gained by not diverting ones conscious attention to fictitious scenarios. The west as a culture seems to possess a certain fear of stillness or silence. Very rarely will we ever encounter someone who is just content to sit and take in their surroundings. If you do this properly you may hopefully gain a new appreciation for this once lost time.

laces of worship are seen as sacred to all who participate. To defile, alter or change a place of worship in any way that is not sanctioned

by a holy person would be an abomination. Faith and worship of a deity are not to be taken lightly and those that are at these places should be treated with respect, even if they would disrespect you. The request is simple, enter a church, mosque or synagogue, and admire the building for what it is. Act as if you belong; if you are at a church then sit yourself down in one of the pews, at a catholic church then light a candle. The goal is not to vandalize the place of worship but to remember there are those who hold these places sacred. If you are Christian and go to church regularly then go to a synagogue. There are people with different opinions than our own. Acknowledge this wait admire and leave. If the building you choose is architecturally admirable then take the time to appreciate that as well. The amazing thing in these buildings isnt necessarily the faith of those that worship but the construction of the facility.

hen we are children we are constantly thinking of new and inventive ways to keep entertained. Perhaps one of the greatest things

we may forget in adult age is when one first learned to count. I remember for myself I found the concept of a 100 numbers to be overwhelming; but once I got the hang of it all I could do was count and count. Counting to ten thousand is going to be one of the simpler tasks that one can do. What purpose does counting to 10,000 serve? Well, it actually serves several purposes; the first purpose in counting to 10,000 is an exercise in patience. Some of us count slower or faster than others. How long does it take exactly? Counting to 10,000 gives one a chance to operate in the abstract and helps one to change how they think. Honestly when was the last time that you even counted to a hundred let alone 10,000. This abstraction can often be useful in helping free up writers block or any other sort of creative wall.

here are several small things in our lives that we can do to make our bodies healthier. Most of these things are ignored though. They are Sleep with a glass of water by your bedside. Not because you may get thirsty in the middle of the night; but to drink when you first wake up. The idea is that by drinking a glass of water first thing every morning you stimulate your lymph-nodes. Healthy lymph-nodes keep one healthier.

ignored because we are just too busy.

Chew your food. Dont just go through the mechanical process of chewing; actually take the time to chew your food. The general rule of thumb is to chew your food 30-40 times before swallowing. By doing this one makes it easier on their digestive system and one is able to get nutrients from their food faster. You dont have to chew 30-40 times with every bite just chew your food until you cant chew it any longer.

Floss before you go to sleep. Flossing before one goes to sleep prevents bacteria build up between your teeth over night. This in turn keeps more bacteria and germs from entering your system while you sleep. As a benefit you will have slightly better breath in the morning.

ometimes fiction is more interesting than non-fiction. To convince someone of something you know to be false, is both a challenge and

a reward when you succeed. It shows you your ability to interact and control others. The more subtle the better. Use your talents to your advantage. I knew a graphic designer that made fake coupons to distribute at a major coffee chain. He placed these professional quality coupons in the chain coffee shop. Once he distributed them he waited sipping on his latte watching people redeem the coupons. The company was forced to validate the coupons out of fear of the customers reaction. You need not do something so elaborate or devious; but please do try to convince someone that you lost your talking dog. You may even try to convince someone that you cant read an analog clock. The choice is up to you, so start small and end big.

art of life is separation. As time passes we may forget about the mortality and temperance of everything. We leave this world with what

we brought in to it. Find something that you hold important to you. A trinket, ring, decoration, something you couldnt imagine living without. Take it and throw it out, or give it away. You dont need it anymore now let go. Many of us accumulate so much stuff in our lives that much of it we just dont need. In fact most of it is just a comforting distraction. By throwing out something dear to you may realize for a moment the pain in life and the temporary nature of all things. How else shall we ascend if we cling so desperately to that which holds us here?

hen you get busy in day to day life; there often isnt time to just sit and relax: let alone read a book. Reading can prove as a great

stimulant and break from the day to day monotony. Its one thing to read something you enjoy, it is another to pick a subject at random and learn all about it. So here is todays task, find a small to medium size book that you can read in a day. Pick a book on a subject you know nothing about, it can be hunting, wine tasting, oil painting, car repair, sports, philosophy, cooking or anything that may be a foreign concept to you. Read the book and learn as much as you can on the subject. By giving time to learn about something new, not only do you increase your knowledge base; but you can surprise your friends and family with your new found knowledge.

hen we are children we inherit many of behaviors and opinions from the adults around us. These behaviors can range anywhere

from a racist attitude, to the extreme disdain of asparagus. Whatever the dislike or negative trait you inherited, it has affected who you are today. If the thing you dislike is a matter of taste, appearance or other similar reproach; then first you need take the opposite approach to it. Most of our dislikes, especially towards food can be overcome with reverse psychology. Start by telling yourself you actually enjoy whatever it is you dislike. Psych yourself up, get excited to actually be able to eat asparagus again. You may not enjoy the food the first time but if you do this enough eventually you will enjoy it. When what you dislike is a person; it is considerably more challenging to overcome. Especially if the person may have wronged you in some way. The best way to start liking someone you dislike is to forgive them. Only when you forgive someone can you stop hating them. Now, look at their positive qualities and ignore the negative. Be their friend do something nice for them. The phrase kill them with kindness exists for a reason. Be warned that this may not work for all people; but if it is a coworker that has wronged you it can work.

ay in and day out of the same routine can slowly effect your health and mental psychology. How long before you just cant take the

social pressures any more? You need to get away sometimes, and forget about your obligations, job, and problems. Get out your map and take a good long look at it. What place on that map would you love to visit? Where have you been? Is there any place youd like to go again? When you find a place you would like to go. Think of what you need to do to be able to take a vacation there. How much money will you need, will you drive or fly there? When you have that decided, select a date and inform whomever you need to. By taking periodic vacations, we allow ourselves time to recharge, and re-imagine the world. It often happens that when we develop monotonous predictable schedules, we forget about the beauty of life. The vacation is to help remind you that you are alive!

he night time holds a bizarre and amazing entrancement for many. Even more mystifying than the night, is the fascination so many have

held for a cemetery at night. Thoughts of zombies, vampires, and demons dance in peoples minds as they see a cemetery at night. Why all the fear? Things that go bump on in the night have scared many, now its your turn to be that thing. When it is dark outside, around 12:00AM , get ready to go for a stroll. Get on some comfortable clothes, red or dark blue, because that blends into the darkness better. Walk through the gates and into the middle of the cemetery. Take a moment to ponder the diabolical histories that have surrounded these places. Take a moment to realize that, the dead will not rise. Most importantly realize how peaceful the cemetery really is at night. No one usually dare enter them except for, drunks, punks, witches and now you.

eople say its like watching the grass grow as if it were a bad thing. Watching the grass grow is an incredible and beautiful thing. It is

something so simple we take it for granted. Yet it is beautiful when one sees a field of fresh bright green grass. Pick a plant to grow, grass, flowers, radishes, rosemary, pumpkins. Research the plant and the optimal conditions to grow it. Learn everything you can about your selected plant. When you feel you now know enough about how to raise and grow your plant, go out and buy the seeds. This project will take a little longer than a day in that you will have to constantly maintain it. When you see the first sprout, it will all be worth it. Seeing a plant sprout, when you know you are the cause for it to be alive is wonderful.

silent reflection, a moment to appreciate and be thankful. This is a rare action, a prayer, many view it solely as an act done by the

religious. Some see it as an act done by the zealots, or the weak. A prayer is a moment of introspection You dont need to be religious to pray, as paradoxical as that may seem. There are several different methods of prayer. The most common is of course to a deity. Take a moment to silently reflect. Be thankful for all you have; respect and understand that you are where you are. Pray for change, hope, a new beginning if you want. Know that prayer is not a time to ask for something we want, but to ask that we may be given what we need. You may be surprised at how therapeutic and potent a prayer can be especially if you are an atheist. If it doesnt work you have nothing to lose, but a few moments of introspection.

Then click on another word that interests you in that topic. Continue to do this until, you are either tired of doing it; or until your current topic is nothing like your original one. Wandering Wikipedia allows for the opportunity to learn about something. Something that you may have never known about before. Not only can this increase your knowledge base but you may find out what strange things there are in the world that you never knew of.

any of us spend far more time than is natural on the computer. It does not matter whether we are visiting facebook, twitter, surfing

the web, playing games, or watching you tube videos, we can often watch precious time slip away. The computer can serve as an addiction just as any other modern media. Today, walk away from your computer. If you need to use a computer at work then swap this with another day. The key here is to be without digital communications. Hundreds of hours a year are wasted on idle digital communications. For just one day stop the flood. Go out and do something you wouldnt normally do. Do anything, even if it is just going for a walk. The surprising thing is when you get back online you will not have missed nearly as much as you thought.

Eris, Matriarch and Goddess of Discordianism, does ask on this day to partake of a hot dog. Discordianism is a curious thing, some say it was founded by Robert A. teller in disguise. So if you dress all in black, then go wearing sneakers, jeans and a bright t-shirt. Dress opposite to your personality. Doing this gives the fortune teller a false persona. Now you can see how accurate they really are. The next part of getting your fortune read is to ask a question you already know the answer to. This will leave no room for prediction in your own mind and this will keep them from manipulating you. Why see the fortune teller? So one can experience first hand the dubious nature of the psychic. The letter must not be offensive, it should be more of a long lost friend letter or old lover. Spend a good amount of time on the letter and make sure it is at least a page in length. When you are done put the letter in the envelope, put their address on it. Leave your address off. Stamp and mail it. Imagine for a moment that you are the individual that will receive the letter. One day out of the blue you get this fascinating love letter. Was this for me? Is this someone elses letter? It cant be for me. Oh, who sent this. The goal is to pull someone else out of their daily cycle and cause a bit of interruption in their daily routine. Nothing harmful just some retrospection.

But every night come out these envoys of beauty, and light the universe with their admonishing smile. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson Go outside find a comfortable spot and lay down. Look up at the stars and understand the stars in the sky were the same ones when the Egyptians built their empire. Remember they are the same stars when China was building the great wall. The stars above have been witness to everything we once had or knew. You can stay out all night below the stars or just a few hours, but the key is to realize how insignificant everything really is. Look at the stars and forget your problems, forget the worlds problems and enamor at the great lights above.

here is a certain dissonance when one is deprived sleep. If one is deprived sleep for over 72 hours hallucinations will start to occur.

Many brain washing techniques involve sleep deprivation. When we are disconnected from reality, we begin to question reality. Planning on sleeping? Not tonight. Tonight you will stay awake for at least twenty-four hours, longer if you can. When our minds find themselves without a point of rest, unique and disparate things may start to occur. Some of our best and most creative ideas can come when sleep deprived. Write down whatever unique ideas or experiences you may have while being awake. Read them when you are fully restored in 48 hours. You may find some to be trash and others to be brilliant. You will learn what your body is capable of and gain a better understanding of the importance of sleep.

Whatever you do go into the public world and draw attention to yourself. Be the strange person people want to stare at. Walk around town with a cardboard sign with some creative propaganda. You must do this sober though or else its effects will be lost upon you. By placing ourselves on display, we simultaneous leave what may be our comfort zone and prepare for our future. We cant predict what life may hold for us but we can prepare for it. Dont stop being a spectacle until you have caused discomfort and awkwardness to others. You might just have fun doing it too.

When you find a grave or tomb you are attracted to; kneel before the stone and asked the deceased if you may sit for a moment with them. Thank them, and seat yourself in a meditative posture. You may use any simple technique; but you must be touching the stone of the chosen grave. Now slowly breathe with your eyes closed and become receptive to the energy around you. Repeat their name in your head. You may start to get pictures, or a voice in your head. Feel free to converse with the voice. After you have had enough thank the resting soul there for their time. oetry is often seen as the creative outlet to writing. Some poetry is verbose and other some simple. It brings a message that deserves

more than to exist solely in a book. Find a poem you enjoy, it can be about anything by any author. Memorize at least the first stanza of the poem. Memorizing poetry not only gives us a chance to work on memory recall and memorization skills; but it also allows us a moment to have something to share with history. The ability to recite poetry from memory also gives an air of civility and sophistication. This can be used to catch someone off guard if ones outward appearance is typically that of a lowly commoner. If you have no reason to memorize a poem then memorize it because it means something to you.

Look around your area, or even check craigslist , find something someone doesnt want anymore. It can be anything from a used TV to an old book. The idea is to re purpose something left behind. If you are an artist or creative type give the item a new purpose. Make something out of it. One would be surprised at what people are willing to give away for free. Give it up for the day and find an better alternative. If the alternative is nothing then so be it. By giving up an addiction for a day we can learn what part of our lives it consumes. so beyond our reach that when you wish upon them you can turn your intangible dreams into reality. More often than not wishing upon a star results in nothing ever happening. But, it is not the granting of the wish that this task is the subject of. Making a wish allows you to put your dreams and hopes into perspective. Are they feasible? Or are your dreams so far out there that you need to bring it closer to your life and find what would make you happy . Whatever the wish may be the goal remains the same. You remind yourself of what you want and what you will settle for.

elevision shows can often involve more complex plots and character development than a typical movie. Over time especially long

exposures we find ourselves forming mental kinship with characters on the TV. Are these ideas and thoughts we have towards these fictitious persons, any less valid than our real interactions? Pick a thought provoking television series. When you find a show you like get some food and snacks and start your Tv-athon. The objective of watching a season all at once; is that we will quickly identify and develop bonds with the characters. These bonds or kinship can help us learn who we think we are versus who we may want to be. This is especially true in more fantastic series. After the show is over, write down your favorite characters and why you like them. Do the same for characters you dislike as well. After you do that write down a list of your real friends and foes and compare the two. Look for similarities and differences between the two sets. This will help you to gain a better understanding of yourself and the friends you keep.

Make yourself comfortable and just observe. Spend a good hour or two watching people move by and continue their daily tasks. The object of studying others is also about self-reflection and observation. How many people do you see stopping and looking around? How many are busy speaking on their mobiles? What do people do and pay attention to is related to where they are mentally. This observation to people may be applied to other things later on in life.

On a blank sheet of paper write down the word. OBSERVATION Now cross out all of the vowels. This leaves you with BSRVTN. Take the remaining letters and start to arrange them in an abstract manner to create a symbol. Simplify and abstract these letters as much as possible so they become unrecognizable. You must now give power to the item, this is done in a moment of pure uninterrupted clarity in which you visualize your symbol. There are a number of ways to do this. You may charge a sigil during a moment of intensity, wether it be focus, ecstasy, or pain. When a sigil is charged it can begin its work.

It can be fantastic and surreal or an alternate account of your own reality. Writing fictional cases helps you to improve your imagination and creativity. It also gives you an opportunity to play God. Your characters are a reflection of you and as such can take journeys you cannot. There are others who believe that there is no such thing as returned spirits they are only demons playing games. to start a conversation. As social creatures we have a deep need to feel connected, and to feel like we belong. Sometimes that isnt always the case, sometimes we need to help out. Pick someone you may not normally speak to and compliment them. The compliment can be on anything, how they dress, an action they did, whatever it is just give an amazing compliment. Compliments, especially from someone unexpected can really catch a person off guard. They have an amazing ability to turn a bad day into a good day. vision quest is the shamanic journey, that one begins to become a shaman. The vision quest allows one to get in touch with their

spirit guides and ancestors. The traditional Vision Quest requires that you stay outside in the forests for 2-4 days with nothing other than water. Bring at least some simple camping supplies such as a tent, and sleeping bag, and depending on how warm it is something to start a fire, also bring a GPS or at the very least a compass, sorry no computers, ipods etc. Mobile phones for emergencies only. Finding a place to have your vision quest may perhaps be the most difficult task. When you do find a place bring only water and basic supplies, no food, you may want to bring an emergency supply for the end of the quest. When you find a place in the wilderness for your vision quest, set up camp. Draw a 10 foot circle around your area and do not leave. Going without food for a few days and staying in one place with nothing to do can be quite taxing. Understand that you are here to meet your spirit guides. You must be open to the idea and you must be patient. Depending upon when your guide visits, you may not need to stay the full 4 days. Leave when you are ready, and if you need to leave before 4 days then do so.

It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company a church a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. you cant hold your breath as long as an average person. Get a stop watch or look at a clock. Take in a deep breath and hold it for as long as you can. Can you hold your breath for one minute, thirty seconds, or maybe even two minutes? Practice this periodically during the day. Holding your breath helps you to gauge your relative health as well as your air capacity. Are you filling just your lungs with air or are you filling your lungs and diaphragm with air? Air is a necessity to life. If you find you have tremendous difficulty holding your breath for thirty seconds you may need to make some life style adjustments.

The purpose of writing a journal every day is to create an internal dialogue. If you start writing about your everyday events, you will find over time you can remember more and more of what happened. If you ride a kayak, you can use it to reach places you could not get to by foot. If you take a cruise you can learn what its like to sleep at sea. You may even consider going on a whale watch.
