BLURB ~~~~~ This is the latest test release of CarBox. Version number is 0.7.

1 The latest version of this software is always available for download from http:/ /www.stuffandting.com/carbox/ CarBox is a front-end application, designed with use in a car computer project i n mind. At present it supports touchscreen only, keyboard or remote control use is not an option. It may or may not be added in future. CarBox is free to use. As such I offer no warranty -- if it breaks anything I'm sorry, but that's about all you'll get! FEATURES ~~~~~~~~ Briefly, CarBox's features comprise: b Support for Windows Media Player 9.0 (for Music and Video) Support for Destinator 2.0 (for GPS Navigation) Can embed GPS application of your choosing within the CarBox window, so alt-ta is not required. Fully resumes play after hibernate/restart (windows must be configured) Select a directory subtree to replace, or add to current playlist. Allows for queuing up as much music as you need for your journey! - Search facility, to find individual songs/movies, or full albums. - Fully skinnable. Skinning application available for download at the same plac e as this program. - Scalable skins, so you can view them at any screen resolution. - Run-time switchable skins, for example day/night skins. - Option to embed GPS application in Visualisation screen. Small, but handy. - Option to startup GPS application when CarBox starts. - Ability to embed multiple applications, as required. - Gamma correction, for adjusting brightness for night mode. - Configurable Keyboard Controls - Mean a remote control can be used, eg with Gi rder. - Integrated clock. Woot! - Possibly other things which I've forgotten about/deemed unimportant. USAGE ~~~~~ To run CarBox: - Unzip the installation zip file to c:\CarBox, or wherever you like. (I guess you've already done this if you're reading this README file!) - Run Congifurator.exe, which will let you tailor the options to meet your needs . This updates CarBox.ini. - Run CarBox.exe (and create a shortcut if you want). That's it, really. Please note that I have included keyboard options for Minimize, and external app lications. This assumes that you have a keyboard method of switching back to th e application (eg programmed macros for your remote control). If you cannot do this, simply don't define or use a key for these buttons.

Added ability to drill down to and add individual songs, rather than ju st whole directories. Created a processing panel, so you can better see when CarBox is busy. v0.6.2 - Added option to launch applications externally, as well as embedded. If any MP3 doesn't have a valid Artist & Title, then show filename inst ead. v0.6.1 - Fixed a small bug in the Application Chooser. v0.6 - Added Gamma correction, to allow brightness to be dimmed at night. Added ability to embed up to 10 applications. Removed NightSkin (no longer needed as Gamma duplicates). Fixed so Destinator closes properly if you exit it.

V0.5.1 - Fixed resizing of media player when changing skins. Made Configurator prompt for saving if changes made, instead of losing changes. v0.5 v0.4 - Added Configurator application, to ease configuration. Added keyboard support. - Added search facility.

v0.3 - Added new skin format, which doesn't use separate icons (this works bet ter when stretching skins). Implemented ability to show a clock. New option in CarBox.ini to startup GPS application automatically. Included option to switch GPS application to Visualisation window. Dou ble-click GPS icon to toggle this. Added extra button to switch between 2 skins. Eg for Day/Night skins, of simply aesthetics. v0.2 - Added ability to stretch the skin to any size screen resolution.

v0.1.3 - Improved the way applications are embedded. Added functionality to choose Windows Media Player playlists from the M edia Library, as well as directories. v0.1.2 - Added ability to embed any application you wish (should allow MapPoint, CoPilot etc). Fix so selector panel is hidden, if the player panel is hidden.

Stopped 2nd click in double-click on directory browser registering, cau sing unwanted selection. v0.1.1 - Fixed so it still works if you don't have Destinator 2.0 installed. Made it recognize uppercase and lowercase filename suffixes (*.MP3 and *.mp3). v0.1 - Initial Release.
