PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.01 Installation A. Visual inspection of the wires and cables, before any installation, will be carried out by Saudi Aramco. Installation of wires and cables shall conform to NEC. Contractor shall check and increase conduit sizes if required so that correct conduit fill is maintained based on actual wire furnished. Identify each wire in junction boxes, terminal blocks, cabinets, and terminal terminations boxes by means of a heat shrink, or slip-on marker. Conductors shall be continuous between outlets, boxes, devices etc. There shall be no splices or taps within a conduit or conduit body. Separation of Conductors of Different Systems: 1. Conductors of light, control and power systems of 120, 208, 220, 380 and 480 v shall be permitted to occupy the same enclosure, conduit, or tray where all conductors are insulated for the maximum nominal circuit voltage rating of any conductor within the enclosure. Conductors of signaling or instrumentation system shall not occupy the same cable, tray, conduit or duct as conductors of lighting, power or 120 v control, and above systems. Where in duct banks a minimum spacing of 300 mm (12 in.) shall be maintained. Where occupying the same junction boxes, an approved barrier shall separate them from the above circuits, otherwise separate boxes shall be used.

Cable Pulling: 1. Conduits shall be thoroughly swabbed to remove moisture and debris before pulling in wires. All runs shall be complete before pulling in wires. Basket grips shall be securely fastened to the cable by its back end. This will prevent its loss in the event should pulling be stopped in the middle of a conduit. When basket grips are used the last 600 mm (24 in.) of cable behind the area covered by the grip shall be removed before splicing or terminating. Cable shall not be pulled faster than 15 m (50 ft.) per minute. If at all possible the cable should not be pulled slower than 4.5 m (15 ft.) per minute. Cables shall be continuously trained into the duct or conduit in such a manner that the cable will not drag on the edge of the conduit. Lubricant shall be applied as necessary to reduce pulling friction.
