Exchange of Vows Blessing and Exchange of Rings A circle is the symbol of wholeness, perfection, and unity. Like circles, their rings have no beginning and no end. They are tokens of the growing relationship that Susanne and Alex have come here to celebrate and confirm. Lighting of the Unity Candle "Ave Maria" by Shubert Susanne and Alex are going to light their Unity Candle, a symbol of their relationship and love. The candles from which they light it have been lit by their parents to represent their lives to this moment. The lights, representing the faith, wisdom, and love they have received from their parents, are distinct, each burning alone. Susanne and Alex will light the center candle to symbolize the union of their lives. As this one light burns undivided, so shall their love be one. May the radiance of this one light be a testimony of their unity. May these candles burn brightly as symbols of their commitment to each other, and as a tribute to their parents' everlasting love for them. Filipino Wedding Traditions Principal Sponsors (Ninongs and Ninangs) These family members act as Godparents to the Newlywed couple, guiding and supporting them through married life. Presentation of Arras (Coins) The groom gives the bride thirteen coins, which represent the sharing of resources with each other. This also signifies the hope for future prosperity and the promise to take care of one another. Lighting of the Unity Candle The candles symbolize the Light of Christ, the same light received at Baptism and now receive again to lead them in their new life as a couple. The flames represent the love that the couple should always keep burning in their hearts for one another throughout their married life. Presentation of the Veil The veil draped onto the couple symbolizes purity and Gods Protection of the marriage. Presentation of the Nuptial Cord The cord is a symbol of the couples bond. They are no longer two but one in their new life as a couple.
To our family and friends, who have shared our lives. You have honored us by your presence today. To our parents, for their unconditional love and support. This day would not have been possible without you.
