(a) What are the properties of dielectric materials. (b) Dene polarization, P (c) What are the magnitudes of electric ux densities and polarization for a dielectric material in which E = 150 kV/m. Electric susceptibility of the dielectric material is 4.75. [6+3+7] 2. (a) What is the inductance of a solenoid and write the expression for its inductance and also for magnetic eld in a solenoid. (b) A solenoid has 400 turns with a length of 2 m. It has a circular cross-section of 0.1 m2 . Find its inductance. [8+8] 3. (a) Verify whether the elds E = 10 sin sin t ay and H = satisfy the Maxwells equations.

(b) Calculate the characteristic impedance, the attenuation constant and phase constant of a transmission line if the following measurements have been made on the line ZOC = 550 and ZSC = 660.
