LOG YOUR HOURS for pro bono advocacy and community service! Congratulations to the hundreds of students who made the choice to begin the year with service through HOPE DAY. Over 800 hours of community service were logged by participants for their work across Miami-Dade County on August 16th. Take the HOPE pledge of performing 75 hours or more of pro bono advocacy and community service in law school. Like the UM HOPE Facebook Page! The Society of Bar & Gavel Now Accepting Nominations and Applications
The Society of Bar & Gavel is an honor society that recognizes an individual student's outstanding service and dedication to goodwill. If you know of an outstanding student leader who demonstrates B&G's four tenets of service, character, leadership, and a positive attitude, please submit a nomination form by Monday, September 9th at 5PM. Individuals may also apply for membership by submitting the application form, due Sunday, September 15th at 5PM. All forms should be e-mailed to BarAndGavel@gmail.com.

The Women's Law and Public Policy Fellowship Program offers Fellowships for public interest lawyers from the U.S. who are committed to advancing women's rights throughout their careers. Opportunity with LegalUp!


Legal Up! seeks to address many of the issues confronting at-risk youth transitioning to adulthood by providing basic legal, civics and related life skills education. Program leadership consists of prominent local federal and state judges and attorneys. Each law school will select one outstanding student to participate as a teaching fellow in the Legal Up! program. Interested? The Womens Fund MiamiDade Screening of Playground O Cinema Miami Shores Wednesday, October 23rd
The Womens Fund presents a powerful film about the sexual trafficking of underage girls called Playground: the child sex trade in AMERICA . The screening will be followed by a brief panel discussion with community leaders working to eradicate the commercial sexual exploitation of children. Tickets are $5.00 and can be purchased at womensfundmiami.org or at the door. The film will be shown at 6:30 pm at O Cinema Miami Shores located at 9806 NE 2nd Ave, Miami Shores, FL 33138.

David A. Winston Health Policy Fellowship


Attention 3Ls: The David A. Winston Health Policy Fellowship is a distinguished postgraduate fellowship in health policy. The fellowship provides a unique opportunity for promising students to learn about the political system through direct exposure to the roles of both the public and private sectors in health policy development.
