CarbonCare Premises
CarbonCare Premises is a label from Carbon Care Asia. It
is a comprehensive and all-inclusive program incorporating
design, construction, operation and offset applying
international standards, integrating carbon-conscious
concepts and measurements to enable the development or
retrofitting of climate-friendly premises.

Objectives
• encourage businesses and organizations to establish low-
carbon premises through innovative concept design and
best operation practice;
• benchmark carbon management performance within the
premises; and
• give recognition to the measures and levels of the
participants’ effort in tackling climate change via
voluntary actions.

Why Carbon and Carbon Actions?

Carbon has become the common denominator for

measuring carbon emission, whether it is generated from
energy, water, waste or food. Talking about “green” is not
tangible. Carbon in tonnage, is a measurable unit
applicable to individual lifestyle, business operations and
industrial operations in terms of carbon footprint. Carbon
actions are actions that either 1) actively reduce individual
and collective carbon footprint or 2) offset carbon emission
by purchasing carbon credits that support verified
renewable energy projects.

CarbonCare Premises Standard (CCP-2009)
To apply for a CarbonCare Premises label,
applicants should follow the CarbonCare
Premises standard (CCP-2009) for the interior
design, office operation and carbon
management system of the premises.

from four categories that are used to evaluate a design, with a
maximum score in each category. Carbon Management

(VERs) from renewable energy projects via CCA for portions of emissions that
cannot be reduced.
OFFSET
The application criteria is that the premises must offset at least 50% of its carbon
footprint under the Carbon Management Evaluations scheme.

Carbon Care Asia supports carbon offset projects through purchasing carbon
credits in renewable energy and resource conservation projects. CCA sources
Verified /Voluntary Emission Reduction (VER) and Certified Emission Reduction
(CER) certificates in China.

Under the CCA Carbon Offset scheme, applicants are offered the choice of
purchasing from various VER projects to offset their carbon footprints.

Applicants who wish to purchase higher volume and more specific carbon credits
(VER or CER) are offered customized packages by CCA.

Why Carbon Offsets?

Carbon offsets help you balance out your own contribution to global warming by
funding greenhouse gases reduction projects. With carbon offsets, you can
balance out 100% of those emissions you cannot eliminate through conservation.
Funding such projects also create green jobs, reduce health and life hazards
created by industries such as coal-mining, re-create balance in communities badly
affected by carbon emitting industries or climate change.
